A warehouse of second-hand items material was opened in Žižkov which will have an ecological, environmental, and educational function. The non-profit project was created with the support of the city district of Prague 3 and the municipality. The Skutek association is behind the idea of creating art re use and the operator Jan Vincenec, the ArtMap association and the project coordinator, took care of the implementation. Art re use functions in the premises as a “bank” of art material, which offers artists, students, non-profit projects and galleries material and instrumental background for creation, including “know-how” support and inspiration. It will also help cultural institutions, companies, and art schools with a meaningful redistribution of used and currently unnecessary material, which they themselves can no longer store. The basic benefit is to concentrate the efforts of individuals and institutions striving for responsible access to raw materials. More than 12,000 volunteers in yellow T-shirts will offer yellow flowers with blue ribbons and information leaflets on the prevention of cancer in the streets of 1,200 cities and municipalities throughout the country. The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with Prague and the State Navigation Administration, is preparing to open a unique Czech heliport that will sail on the Vltava. The floating heliport will be built on the river below Vyšehrad to help hospitals in Prague due to a lack of space in the center by transporting patients to three Prague medical facilities in urgent cases. The new heliport would take patients to the General University Hospital on Karlovo náměstí, to the Institute for the Care of Mother and Child in Podolí, and to the similar facility near Prague’s Apolinář. None of these hospitals has a suitable landing area, so rescuers must improvise if necessary. Helicopter landing pads on the water are already common in Australia, and a similar heliport on the Thames is used for the rescue service. The gas transmission system operators of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Germany plan to build a hydrogen corridor from Ukraine across Central Europe. The companies did not disclose the likely price of the energy project. A joint initiative called the Central European Hydrogen Corridor focuses on the development of a hydrogen “highway” in Central Europe. It should be used to transport the hydrogen from future major production areas in Ukraine, which, according to companies, offers excellent conditions for its massive organic production. The Czech Republic currently lacks approximately 14,000 IT professionals. Altogether, the sector now employs over 316,000 people and about 79 percent of companies have difficulty finding suitable candidates when looking for new specialists. This follows from the Coding Bootcamp Prague and Techloop survey. The number of responses to IT advertisements is often many times lower than in other fields, and the representation of women in this sector is still minimal. This is despite the fact a senior developer can earn up to 200,000 crowns a month. “There are several reasons why supply is many times higher than demand,” said Techloop co-founder Andrew Elliott. “Above all, it is the low number of university graduates or the growing demand due to digitalisation. “Another reason why the demand in this sector is so low may be the relatively demanding retraining for IT positions, ” he added. Exactly 80 years ago, on 28 September 1941, Reinhard Heydrich came to Prague on Hitler’s orders to take up the position of Reichsprotektor. He was 37 years old. At a gathering of Nazi officials several days before his arrival in Prague, he clearly expressed how he wanted to handle the population of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Recently, there have been more and more complaints from the post-worker unions. Now, the situation has reached a boiling point, as the workers have a 3-day strike planned from September 29th to October 1st. Employees intend to “accurately” comply with all job descriptions and labor protection standards, which will significantly reduce productivity.
