The pedestrian zone near the Anděl metro station is one of the busiest areas in the city, further worsened by the ongoing closure of the Na Knížecí train stop. Besides hurrying pedestrians, you can easily see drunk people, drug addicts, beggars, and organized thief groups. It takes less than five minutes for a person to realize what’s wrong with this area. In the best-case scenario, someone will bother you asking for a cigarette or money, and in the worst case, you can become a victim of theft. The steps leading to Anděl metro station are occupied by drunks and addicts that frequently use nearby trees as their bathroom. On 13 July, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced that it has invested EUR 191 million for the development of regional and municipal infrastructure projects in the Czech Republic. The funds will be given as a loan that will support the Czech-Moravian Guarantee and Development Bank (ČMZRB): the main provider of financial instruments in the country. According to a press release by the EIB, ČMZRB is funded by both national resources and EU funds. As such, it works with the EIB group to contribute to the economic and social development of the country and its regions. It is a well-known fact that the past year has caused severe damage to various industries and the economy. Now, part of the EUR 191 million loans is expected to help the Czech economy recover from the negative impact of the pandemic. The Czech Ministry of Health came up with a new way to motivate residents to get vaccinated against the coronavirus. Next week, insurance companies will send out paper letters to their clients, inviting them to book their COVID-19 vaccination appointments. “This so-called motivation letter could be sent to vaccinated people by mistake since insurance companies receive these data with a short delay,” said Adam Vojtěch. The minister announced that three walk-in centers (in addition to two in Prague) will open in the country, offering Covid-19 vaccination without prior registration. They will be located in Prague, Brno, and Ostrava. More than a third of the population of the Czech Republic, about 3.8 million people, have already been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and another 1.4 million people have received a single dose. However, vaccination coverage among people aged 30 and below is only about 40 percent. Czechia reported 227 new COVID cases on Thursday, 22 fewer than a week ago and the reproduction rate dropped from 1.3 to 1.25, while the incidence rate is 16 cases per 100,000 population in the past seven days, Health Ministry has said. The figures imply that the week-over-week increase stopped.

Kofokino is heading to Petřín! As early as Thursday, July 15, the regular screening of popular films in the open-air begins directly at the most romantic place in Prague. Today, the majority of cities and countries are concerned with the percentage of people who have been vaccinated. As such, many administrations and governments have launched campaigns and initiatives to encourage citizens to take the COVID-19 vaccine and help prevent the spread of the virus. Although many have taken such actions, few have paid attention to the homeless people who do not have access to healthcare services. On 13 July, Prague City launched a project to help this vulnerable group of individuals and provide them with the medical care they need and deserve. More specifically, the City of Prague has collaborated with the Salvation Army and other organisations to vaccinate those who sleep outdoors and do not use the social services provided by the capital. Councillor for Social Policy and Healthcare Milena Johnová commented on this, noting: “In cooperation with field services, we cater to these people and mobile vaccination teams can start actively offering vaccinations right where these people are staying. I am glad that the Ministry of Health has finally agreed that vaccinating homeless people will help protect their fragile health and at the same time contribute to the overall higher vaccination coverage of the population of Prague.”...
Summer in Prague is the season of tramspotting, as tram tracks are repaired and routes thrown into disarray. A series of repairs in the center of Prague has significantly changed tram traffic in the metropolis since Thursday. Half of the lines do not run on their usual routes and only some sections are served by alternative bus transport. Some other routes are completely canceled. Lines 2 and 5 do not currently run, lines 4, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 24, and 42 run partially on other routes. On the contrary, tram lines 30, 32, and 33 were introduced. The tram traffic in the Lazarská – Újezd section is suspended until 20 August due to the repair of the bridge in Divadelní Street. Trams do not actually run on Národní třída. Moreover, Prague Public Transport interrupted the traffic between I. P. Pavlova – Muzeum – Flora – Olšanské hřbitovy. Russia from July 24 resumes flights with France and the Czech Republic. On Wednesday, July 14, this was told to reporters at the operational headquarters to combat the spread of COVID-19.
