For the fourth time in a row, a historic record was set at Václav Havel Airport Prague on Friday, 13 December 2019. The number of handled passengers a year reached the 17 million mark before noon. The development of direct scheduled connections, including long-haul routes with the highest number in modern airport’s history, the ever-increasing aircraft load factor and capacity increases on existing routes, have contributed to the current 2019 results. The most popular destinations traditionally include London, Amsterdam, Moscow, and Paris. On average, approximately 49,000 passengers have passed through the gates of Václav Havel Airport Prague a day since the beginning of the year. So far, the busiest month in Prague was August, with 1,997,182 handled passengers. “After a year later, we are celebrating another significant milestone in the airport’s history. On December 18, Kampus Hybernská hosts a celebration of the International Day of Migrants. This year, the event promotes art and creativity and the program offers an exhibition of photographs, design market, ethnic food or a film about migration. The event is open to the public, free of chargé and it hopes to provide an opportunity to meet interesting people from different parts of the world who chose to spend a part of their lives in Prague. Hard rock band Guns N’ Roses announced European dates for their Not In This Lifetime tour. They will be at Prague’s Letňany Airport (Letiště Praha Letňany) on June 19, 2020. Tickets went on sale December 18 to the general public and to Live Nation club members December 16. Starting on May 20 in Lisbon, Portugal the just-announced tour will hit 13 more cities including shows in London, Vienna, Warsaw, Munich or Dublin. Guns N ‘Roses will present its biggest hits again in front of the Prague audience – at Letňany Airport three years after their last visit in the Czech Capital. The world’s largest private collection of statues by surrealist giant Salvador Dali has visited Prague. Opened since Thursday, December 12, visitors can visit and view the exhibition called Enigma (“The Secret”) in the newly established museum on Opletalova Street. The Salvador Dali Museum will present visitors with a unique exhibition featuring his most interesting sculptures from his career. Some of his works have brought Dali close to comparison with Sigmund Freud, the famous Austrian neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis theory. “This museum is called Enigma, or ‘mystery,’ and we chose Prague because it has the reputation of being a mysterious city. This concept of the exhibition has been developed for several years and Prague was suitable for it,” says Roberto Panté, creative director of the museum. The Central Group developer(s) plans to start construction within two years on five large brownfields in Prague. What comes into play, however, are the admitted agreements between the boroughs and the municipality (determining who will pay for the construction of the infrastructure) and the length of the authorization process. At the same time, the first outlines of the future residential Ruzyně district are outlines. The Central Group has been buying land in retired industrial and warehouse premises in the past recent years. “We own about 1.5 million square meters for the construction of 30,000 flats,” stated Dušan Kunovský, owner of the Central group. According to Kunovský, the reconstruction of the former Tesla Hloubětín, and the Park quarter in the part of Žižkov railway station are in their beginning stages.
