The 8th edition of the Prague Pride festival will take place from Monday 6 until Sunday 12 August 2018. Prague Pride is the largest pride in the Middle and Eastern Europe. The programme comprises of approx. 100 social, sport, cultural and other events and its peak is the Prague Pride Parade, also called as “rainbow parade“ with allegorical vehicles, extravagant costumes and other fancy dressed people. On Friday before noon, you can take part in the Prague LGBT tour. In the afternoon you can visit the international Vogue dance competition Pride Ball Apocalypse, and in the evening the big music show Dance Divas with Heather Small from M People, this year’s Czech representative at Eurovision Mikolas Josef, and 30 more artists. Saturday is a big day because of the Pride Parade and the 3-stage music afternoon at the Pride Park. The roads have been using sprinkling trucks for about 22 days now since the start of May 28. Last year, the city used the sprinkling truck for a total of 16 days to cool people down for the summer. Cisterns run into the streets whenever the temperature rises for more than 25 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days. Weather channels have stated that the temperature for this week will reach 37 degrees Celcius. One sprinkling truck can be used for an average of 17 kilometers of Prague streets. They took a total of 12,700 kilometers in 22 days. A day of sprinkling and mist costs about 869,000 CZK. Sprinkling and fogging is part of annual summer road maintenance. “The reason is not only climate rejuvenation, but above all the reduction of dustiness and intensity of ground-level ozone,” TSK spokesman Barbora Lišková said. The Financial Administration is actively seeking data and searching for analytical activities from Internet platforms such as Airbnb, Booking, and Uber. “If we have indications that some income has not been properly taxed, we will ask the entities to file a tax return. However, additional taxation is already linked to a sanction in line with the Tax Code,” GFŘ spokesman Petr Habáň told Novinka. Revenue from the accommodation acquired via Airbnb, Booking, Uber, and other Internet platforms is subject FS income tax and must be included in the tax return. In the event that the rental over Airbnb or Booking exceeds one million crowns in the last 12 months, the owner must register as a VAT payer within 15 days of the last month’s expiration. Czech president Miloš Zeman and his counterpart Andrej Kiska took a symbolic ride on a vintage train from the Czech town of Hodonín to the Slovak town of Topoľčianky (Nitra Region) on July 29. Both towns have a symbolic meaning, as Hodonín was the birthplace of first Czechoslovak President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, and Czechoslovak presidents used to have a summer residence in Topoľčianky. In Topoľčianky, they dropped in at a first-republic-style fair and visited the National Stud Farm and Topoľčianky Castle. A carsharing project for electric cars has launched in Prague. The company Re.volt has electric cars that can be rented through a smartphone app. Carsharing allows people who are registered with a particular company to use an app to find a car parked near them and then rent it for a short amount of time. It is not related to ridesharing services, which function more like taxis, as the service does not include a driver. The Re.volt carsharing app asks for basic information from the user and a selfie as proof of identity before cars can be rented, as well as a deposit. The Czech Republic, Romania, Portugal and Poland recorded the highest employment rate among migrants born outside the European Union last year, according to data published by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat). The highest rate of employment last year occurred in the Czech Republic (79.4 percent), Romania (76.3 percent), Portugal (74.5 percent) and Poland (73 percent). The United Kingdom had the highest employment rate among migrants born in different EU Member States in 2017 (83.6 percent), followed by Portugal (82.7 percent), Sweden (80.7 percent) and Estonia (80.2 percent). Worst countries for non-EU migrants The employment rate for non-EU migrants was at its lowest in Belgium. Only 52% of residents born outside the EU were in employment, compared to 71% for native-born people. Greece followed with an employment rate of 54% for non-EU migrants. However, the Hellenic country also registered the 28-country bloc’s lowest employment rate for EU migrants (56.1%) and for the native-born population (58.1%). France completed the bottom trio, with just 55.6% of its non-EU population in employment, compared to 72.6% for its native-born population. As one might guess from the name, Dismas is a cafe that does not hold any prejudice against those who have records of crime. The main objective is to achieve successful re-socialization and re-integration of people who just finished their prison sentence. The first cafe was located in Na Poříčí Street and opened in July 2014. At the end of February 2016, they moved to Růžová Street, where they gained more recognition and support from Prague 1 City District. It was a difficult process moving from Na Poříčí to Růžová, but the Ministry of Justice provided the staff with a fully equipped kitchen. The average price of new flats in Prague increased by 10% to CZK 99,400 per square meter by the end of April. This growth rate is actually gradually decreasing as the average price grew by 22.5% last year. According to Deloitte analyst Petr Hana, complete reconstruction of apartment buildings and the increasing growth of markets in the inner city also led to the increasing size and prices of new flats. Altogether, in March and April, the flats were sold for CZK 7.6 billion in 23 projects. Prague 1 is the most expensive district in Prague with an average price of CZK 218,900 per square meter. The cheapest is Prague 4 with an average of 80,000 crowns. Prices increased the most for Prague 1 by 30.2% and for Prague 10 by 26.6%. According to the City Council’s management, the construction of Metro D is considered to be a top priority for the next few years. There have been, however, difficulties with preparing and buying the land needed for the expansion of the metro system. This leaves a question as to how far they will extend the metro lines. Furthermore, the entire proposal is also a complex examination of how much this will improve public transportation and whether this multi-billion-dollar investment will pay off at all. In 2015, the metro system has expanded to include station stops between Dejvická and Motol Hospital. The plan to stretch to the airport was dropped due to the upcoming railroad that leads from the metropolis center to Kladno.
