September 6: Prague Hosts Indian Festival of Music, Food, and Community
Prague will host its annual celebration of Indian culture, Ganeshotsav, on Saturday, September 6, at Kulturní dům Ládví. Ganeshotsav, the festival honoring Lord Ganesha, is more than a celebration of Indian culture—it’s a way to bring people together. Since 2021, the festival has grown into a space where Indian and Czech communities can meet, connect, and enjoy shared traditions. The event is organised by Maharashtra Mandal, Czech Republic, a registered non-profit dedicated to promoting friendship and understanding between Indian and Czech residents. The festival features traditional Indian rituals, music, dance, and food, and welcomes everyone to join in the fun. This year, the festival also adds a charitable aspect: part of the registration fees will go to support non-profits in India (Matrubhoomi) and the Czech Republic (Karmabhoomi). “With this initiative, we want to contribute to the development of communities both in our country of origin and in the country that is now our home,” says the organizers to Prague Morning.
