April 7: Prague Half Marathon 2018
On April 7 the 20th edition of the Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, will feature the strongest field of professional runners and the largest field of amateur entrants in its storied history. When the Prague half marathon started on March 13, 1999, it probably seemed unlikely to anyone other than Carlo Capalbo, the President of the RunCzech organizing committee, that the race would grow into an event that would attract thousands of runners from all over the world and produce World Record performances. The race starts at 10 am CET from Jan Palach Square and will be broadcast live and is expected to last three hours. The fastest runners are expected to finish in an hour and a half. Detours for traffic will be marked, and police will be giving drivers instructions on alternative routes during the marathon. Detours can be expected in Prague 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8. Parking is also restricted in Prague 1, and cars could be towed. Tram routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23 and 25 will be affected at different times during the race.
