Switzerland, Greece, Iceland and the Czech Republic could be the next four countries on the UK Government’s quarantine list. Holidaymakers traveling to the four European countries could be forced to self-isolate for 14 days upon landing back in Britain. Greece could follow Spain, France, and Croatia in being the fourth popular European destination banned from quarantine-free travel. And Switzerland could follow it, with a spike in Covid-19 cases concerning Government officials. Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has already hinted countries will be added to the quarantine list if cases rise. The Transport Secretary warned that a range of factors are taken into account when the Joint Biosecurity Centre and ministers make their assessments. Croatia, Austria, and Trinidad and Tobago were stripped from the ‘safe’ list of countries, following a spike in cases, last week. The number of new cases in Switzerland has seen its rate of infection rose to 21.1 new cases per 100,000 over the last seven days, up from 18 for the previous week. The Czech Republic’s rate of infection has surged to 18.6 from 16, while in Iceland, the rate of infection has jumped to 16.5 from 14.6, and in Greece, the cumulative rate jumped to 14.9 from 13.7....

The Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recommended Slovak citizens reconsider traveling to some regions within countries that are otherwise safe for travel when it comes to the epidemiological situation, including the Czech capital of Prague along with some areas of Croatia and France. If people still must go to these areas, they should continuously monitor the situation and follow the recommendations of epidemiologists. Some Dutch, Irish, Polish and British regions and the whole of Malta and Spain have previously been included on the list to which this recommendation applies. The whole of Belgium, Prague, two Croatian counties, one Danish and one Estonian region, and three French regions have also been recently added. In Slovakia, 2,922 cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection have been confirmed so far with 31 deaths related to COVID-19. Prague has already entered the “orange” zone in Belgium, which recommended quarantine for its citizens returning from Prague at the end of July. The Czech capital and the Frýdek-Místek district continue to be the only regions that are marked in green on the “traffic light“ map of the Ministry of Health, signaling the occurrence of the disease without transmitting the disease in the community. Other regions of the...
In the period August 1 to 16, Croatia generated 1.8 million tourist arrivals and 12.9 million bed nights which is almost 70% of the bed night generated in the same period last year, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) informed on Monday. Adding that this is the height of the summer season HTZ Director Kristjan Stanicic underlined that the period ahead is important for the tourist trade and that it is necessary to maintain continuity and presence on the market, particularly in the context of positioning Croatia as a year-round destination. “Announcements for the rest of August and for September are good, however, it is extremely important to continue acting responsibly and to adhere to the recommended epidemiological measures as that is the fundamental preconditions to achieve tourist turnover,” said Stanicic. Of the total number of bed night in the first 16 days in August this year, 3.2 million were in Istria, followed by 2.6 million beds in the Kvarner (a wider Rijeka) region, 2.4 million in Split-Dalmatia County and 2.3 million in Zadar County. Sibenik-Knin County saw one million bed nights while Dubrovnik-Neretva county generated 716,000 bed nights and Lika-Senj County with 475,000. Germany accounts for the largest number of tourists in this...
The complex, which dates to the 13th century, is a great starting point for cycling and hiking in Drahanská Highlands close to the Moravian Karst.
Located in Southern Moravia, the charming town of Telč is an easy and pleasant day trip from Prague for those who want to escape the city. Just two and a half hours away by car or public transport, this town and its fairy-tale sights can easily be seen in just a day. Telč was founded at the end of the 13th century and was originally a merchant town on the crossroads between Bohemia, Moravia, and Austria. A Gothic fortress was built in the town in the 14th century, but in the 16th century, Zachariáš of Hradec, who had taken charge of the Telč estate, decided to change the style of the stately home from Gothic to Renaissance following a trip to Italy, and the rest of the town quickly followed suit. The historical town centre has since gained UNESCO World Heritage status, and you can certainly see why people make a point of visiting this sleepy Moravian town. THINGS TO DO: Old Town Square The Old Town square is arguably the main attraction of the small Moravian town. The unique square is lined with Italian Renaissance and baroque styled houses, with colourful and intricate pastel facades, high gables, and arcades....
Visitors to Greece arriving from the Czech Republic, Sweden, Belgium, Spain, and the Netherlands will need proof they have tested negative for the novel coronavirus to gain entry.
Three countries have decided to tighten measures for Czech citizens due to the epidemiological situation in the Czech Republic as the daily increase in coronavirus cases in recent weeks is about 200, much more than at the beginning of July. During Thursday night, Slovenia became the latest country to change the rules for Czechs and, suddenly, put the Czech Republic on the list of medium-risk countries. Upon entering the country, a two-week quarantine is mandatory for Czech citizens. If they only need to pass through the country, this restriction does not apply to them, but the transit must not exceed 12 hours, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on its website. On Thursday, Norway also imposed restrictions on the Czechs – they have to spend ten days in quarantine after entering the Scandinavian country. Oslo placed Czechia on the traffic-light system “red” list together with France, Switzerland, and Monaco. Norwegians are also advised to travel to these four countries only when necessary. Currently, Norway allows free travel to people from countries that have registered less than 20 coronavirus cases per 100,000 population in the last two weeks, which is not the case for the Czech Republic. This week, Ukraine...
Increasing coronavirus infections in the Czech Republic are likely to result in Norway applying travel restrictions to the country this week. The move was signalled on Monday by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), which published similar notifications in July before restrictions were applied to travellers from Spain and Belgium. Norway’s health authorities designated EEA and Schengen countries as ‘green’ or ‘red’ depending on current infection rates. To remain ‘green’, the figure must be under 20 infections per 100,000 residents in total over the past two weeks. Once a country is ‘red’, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against travel that is not strictly necessary to that country, and self-quarantine is required for travellers returning or arriving from it. This also means people cannot travel from ‘red’ countries to Norway for tourism. NIPH said on Monday that it would recommend travel advisories for the Czech Republic to be changed to ‘red’ at the next update scheduled for later this week, unless any change in the situation occurs in the meantime. The final decision on travel advice is taken by the government based on NIPH assessments. The Czech Republic has exceeded the 20 per 100,000 resident infections threshold, resulting in the Norwegian public...
Airbnb’s Enhanced Cleaning Protocol and a step-by-step guide cleaning guide are now available to hosts in the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland. Hosts in these countries can access the Enhanced Cleaning Protocol materials in their local language through the Resource Center, including a Quick Start Guide and Cleaning Handbook with guidance on the use of personal protective equipment, how to clean every room in a home, what to sanitize, and what supplies to have on hand. In addition to cleaning guidelines, hosts need to comply with guidance from governments or health authorities in their local jurisdictions. “I learned about the introduction of the cleaning protocol from an e-mail sent directly by Airbnb. For me, not much has changed in my already established method of cleaning, with the exception of additional disinfection. My guests are provided with disinfectants and face masks. I also inform them about the current situation, eg about current obligations for wearing the masks. When the guests come to us, I will welcome everyone to say that I apologize, but that I can’t shake their hand at this time, everyone immediately smiles that they understand this and thanks to that a good atmosphere of trust is established when guests see that I...
Ukraine put the Czech Republic on the list of countries with a high risk of COVID-19 infection, as people returning from the Czech Republic must undergo a 14-day-long quarantine.
