Czech Travel Guide: Telč

Located in Southern Moravia, the charming town of Telč is an easy and pleasant day trip from Prague for those who want to escape the city. Just two and a half hours away by car or public transport, this town and its fairy-tale sights can easily be seen in just a day. Telč was founded at the end of the 13th century and was originally a merchant town on the crossroads between Bohemia, Moravia, and Austria. A Gothic fortress was built in the town in the 14th century, but in the 16th century, Zachariáš of Hradec, who had taken charge of the Telč estate, decided to change the style of the stately home from Gothic to Renaissance following a trip to Italy, and the rest of the town quickly followed suit. Three Countries Tighten Coronavirus Restrictions Against Czech Republic

Three countries have decided to tighten measures for Czech citizens due to the epidemiological situation in the Czech Republic as the daily increase in coronavirus cases in recent weeks is about 200, much more than at the beginning of July. During Thursday night, Slovenia became the latest country to change the rules for Czechs and, suddenly, put the Czech Republic on the list of medium-risk countries. Upon entering the country, a two-week quarantine is mandatory for Czech citizens. If they only need to pass through the country, this restriction does not apply to them, but the transit must not exceed 12 hours, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on its website. On Thursday, Norway also imposed restrictions on the Czechs – they have to spend ten days in quarantine after entering the Scandinavian country. Oslo placed Czechia on the traffic-light system “red” list together with France, Switzerland, and Monaco. Norwegians are also advised to travel to these four countries only when necessary. Norway’s Travel Rules: Czech Republic Amongst Next Group of Likely ‘Red’ Countries

Increasing coronavirus infections in the Czech Republic are likely to result in Norway applying travel restrictions to the country this week. The move was signalled on Monday by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), which published similar notifications in July before restrictions were applied to travellers from Spain and Belgium. Norway’s health authorities designated EEA and Schengen countries as ‘green’ or ‘red’ depending on current infection rates. To remain ‘green’, the figure must be under 20 infections per 100,000 residents in total over the past two weeks. Once a country is ‘red’, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against travel that is not strictly necessary to that country, and self-quarantine is required for travellers returning or arriving from it. This also means people cannot travel from ‘red’ countries to Norway for tourism. NIPH said on Monday that it would recommend travel advisories for the Czech Republic to be changed to ‘red’ at the next update scheduled for later this week, unless any change in the situation occurs in the meantime. Airbnb Publishes Cleaning Handbook for Hosts in the Czech Republic

Airbnb’s Enhanced Cleaning Protocol and a step-by-step guide cleaning guide are now available to hosts in the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland. Hosts in these countries can access the Enhanced Cleaning Protocol materials in their local language through the Resource Center,  including a Quick Start Guide and Cleaning Handbook with guidance on the use of personal protective equipment, how to clean every room in a home, what to sanitize, and what supplies to have on hand. In addition to cleaning guidelines, hosts need to comply with guidance from governments or health authorities in their local jurisdictions. “I learned about the introduction of the cleaning protocol from an e-mail sent directly by Airbnb. Korean Air Resumes Prague-Seoul Flight

The resumption of regular scheduled connections continues at Václav Havel Airport Prague. Korean Air will fly again between Prague and Seoul from 21 August 2020. The carrier will fly to South Korea once a week, arriving on Friday and departing from Prague on Saturday. The route will be operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has a capacity for a total of 269 passengers (24 Business Class and 245 Economy Class seats).  Prague will thus join the list of five selected European destinations with the Korean Air scheduled service this summer. Currently, Prague Airport has confirmed resumed operations from 32 airlines offering direct connections from Prague to nearly 80 destinations, either already available to passengers or scheduled to re-launch in the coming weeks. Belgium Removes Prague From Its Coronavirus Safe Destinations List

Belgium has taken Prague off its list of safe destinations for travel due to a spike in COVID-19 cases. The Czech Embassy in Brussels informed that Prague has been included among the orange destinations (along with the Moravian-Silesian region). It means that after returning to Belgium, it is necessary to produce a negative Covid-19 test or go into a two-week quarantine upon their return. All passengers (regardless of the country they come from) must fill in the “Public Health Passenger Locator Form” before traveling to Belgium. This form can be used to contact the traveler if an infection is detected and to start tracing other people if necessary. The increase in recent days is due, among other things, to the outbreak in the Techtle Mechtle nightclub.  From today, July 27, the public will be required also to wear a face mask in pharmacies and medical facilities, “where it is not always possible to maintain a two-meter distance from other people.” The Czech Republic reported 115 cases of the new coronavirus on Monday, bringing the country’s total to 15,324. Barcelona Residents Asked to ‘Stay at Home’, Israel Returns to Partial Lockdown

Catalonia’s regional government has asked millions of people to “stay at home” as the area experienced a resurgence in coronavirus cases. It is not a legal order, but instead a “strong recommendation” intended to control contagion and avoid a full-blown lockdown. The authorities notified 1,300 new daily cases on Thursday, most of them in Barcelona and the metropolitan area. Around four million people in the Barcelona metropolitan area have been requested to only leave home for essential reasons, with cinemas, theatres and nightclubs also closing. Restaurants and bars are now limited to half capacity, a ban on visits to elderly people’s homes has been implemented. The Catalan government also announced new social distancing measures for 15 days that will limit gatherings to 10 people. The measures concern the city of Barcelona and its surrounding areas, towns and cities and will initially be in place for two weeks.
