Running Down a Prague Skyscraper Is Now a Real Thing
Prague Morning
Prague has added a new extreme attraction to its list of adventure activities, giving thrill-seekers the chance to walk — and run — down the side of a skyscraper.
The experience, known as House Running, is now operating at the City Empiria tower in Prague’s Pankrác district.
Participants descend vertically along the building’s facade from a height of 101 meters while secured by a dual-rope safety system.
The project was launched by the Czech company Allegria – Experience Company, which says interest in unconventional adrenaline activities has continued to grow in recent years.
For many participants, the most difficult moment comes before the descent even begins.
“The hardest part for most people is stepping over the edge of the roof,” said Darina Noviková, executive director of Allegria. “Once their feet touch the wall and they lean into the harness, the fear usually turns into excitement and a feeling of control.”

Unlike traditional climbing or rappelling, House Running places the body in a nearly horizontal position while participants move down the building face-first. According to organizers, the unusual movement creates a psychological challenge because the brain is not naturally accustomed to walking perpendicular to the ground.
Before the descent, every participant completes an instruction session and is fitted with a full-body harness. Instructors then perform multiple safety checks before the run begins.
The descent itself is controlled using two independent ropes. Trained instructors regulate the participant’s speed from above, while another team member supervises the belaying system from the ground.
Organizers selected the City Empiria building — formerly known as Motokov — because of its height and facade structure. Standing more than 100 meters tall, it is currently the highest building in the Czech Republic used for this type of activity.
Participants reach the rooftop starting point by elevator before climbing the final section via ladder access. After completing the descent, each runner receives a certificate.
House Running is open to the public from April through October, with bookings available through the operator’s website.
