Suunto Launches Race 3S, a Compact Performance Watch with 38-Hour GPS Battery Life
Prague Morning
Suunto has introduced the Race 3S, a new-generation performance watch designed for runners and outdoor athletes.
Featuring dual-band GPS, a 2,000-nit AMOLED display and free global offline maps, the watch offers up to 38 hours of battery life in a compact 46mm titanium case weighing 56 grams.
The Race 3S builds on the Finnish brand’s Race series, bringing its training and navigation features to a smaller design suited to smaller wrists. It is also among the first devices to launch alongside Suunto AI Coach, a new AI-powered training assistant integrated into the Suunto app.
“Today, people have access to far more data about their performance than ever before, but turning all that information into something useful can be a challenge,” says Daniel Das Bhowmik, Vice President of Products at Suunto. “We developed the Race 3S to offer exceptional battery life in a design so compact and lightweight that you’ll barely notice it’s there.”
Longer battery life and improved performance
The Race 3S provides up to 38 hours of battery life in dual-band GPS mode, a 40% increase compared with the Race S. In daily-use mode, the battery can last up to 12 days.
Weighing 56 grams with its silicone strap, the watch features a titanium bezel and sapphire crystal glass for added durability. Its 46mm case is designed to fit smaller wrists without compromising on performance.
Inside, a new Apollo 510 processor improves responsiveness when navigating maps and menus. The optical heart rate sensor has also been upgraded, with six LEDs and four photodetectors designed to improve accuracy during movement and in challenging conditions. Pairing the watch with a Suunto heart rate belt also enables ZoneSense, which measures exercise intensity based on the body’s physiological response.

Suunto introduces its AI Coach
The Race 3S launches alongside Suunto AI Coach, a conversational training assistant available through the Suunto app.
The tool analyses personal training data to provide insights into fitness levels, performance and recovery. Users can ask questions about their training and receive tailored recommendations, supported by visual information such as charts and maps.
AI Coach can also create structured workouts, training plans and routes, which users can save in the app and synchronise with their watch.
Customers who purchase and pair a Race 3S can receive three months of free access to Suunto AI Coach, provided they activate the watch through the Suunto app by December 31, 2026.

Offline maps and race navigation
The watch includes free offline maps covering the entire world, with contour lines and place names. Maps can be downloaded directly to the device and used without an internet connection or subscription.
Dual-band GPS provides more accurate location tracking, particularly in forests, canyons and mountainous terrain.
For trail runners, Climb Guidance displays upcoming ascents and descents along a route, helping them manage their effort throughout a race. The Race Planner app will also introduce personalised pacing strategies based on the route, weather conditions and individual race goals, with real-time guidance during the event.*
AMOLED display and additional features
The 1.32-inch LTPS Hybrid AMOLED display offers a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels and peak brightness of 2,000 nits, making it easier to read in direct sunlight.
The Race 3S comes with 64 GB of storage for maps, routes, training data and offline music listening. It supports more than 100 sport modes, including running, cycling, swimming, strength training and multisport activities.
The watch is available in three colours: Orchid, Feather and Black.
Race Planner will be introduced in a future update to the Suunto app and watch firmware. Availability and timing are subject to change.
Offline music storage will be enabled through a wireless software update following launch. The release date has not yet been announced.
