Take Away Some Tastiness!

Has there ever been a time when food delivery/takeaway food has been more important? Has there ever been a time when our support of small restaurants has been more important?

Our answer to both questions is a resounding “No”.

Yes, it’s up to us to stay home, obey the rules and reduce the spread; but it’s also up to us to play our part in keeping these small local businesses alive.

We are spoilt for choice in Prague with the number of restaurants we can still order from during these unprecedented times. However, quantity does not always equal quality! Thankfully, we have discovered some gems which will delight the tastebuds.

Here’s a rundown of our favourites.

James Joyce Irish Pub

The staff at James Joyce have always taken pleasure in their work. That’s one of the main reasons why it has become a cornerstone of Prague’s Bar & Restaurant scene. Even during these difficult times, the staff continue to excel and the two in-house chefs have concocted an excellent menu to satisfy all culinary tastes.

Dishes on the new-look menu include their legendary Chicken Wings, The Classic Burger, Goulash with Bread Dumplings, and Goat’s Cheese Salad. Those who enjoy a taste of Ireland can choose from favorites such as Fish & Chips and Bangers & Mash. They also offer a daily lunch menu at outstanding prices and specials on take-away beer.

Pick-up is available at their window, and an added bonus is that the aforementioned staff will personally deliver to customers in the Old Town area.

Tarquinio

This little slice of Italy in the heart of Prague is everything that an Italian bistro should be. If you don’t believe us, just read the reviews!

Unlike many others, their products are actually imported from Italy and all dishes are prepared according to traditional Italian recipes.

They are offering an extensive menu during the lockdown which includes various delicious homemade pastas & pizzas, original lasagne, and their famous Pinza Romana. Customers can order directly from their window, or they can also avail of home delivery through Wolt.

Street Bistro Asia

They describe themselves as ‘Gastro gangsters’ and they certainly do add a cool and modern twist to Asian Cuisine.

Their novel Asian burgers have tickled our taste buds many times in the past and will do so again in the near future. The same can be said for their Ramen. They also offer excellent sushi, dim-sum, pokes and curry dishes.

Sugar Daddy by Bejzment

When it comes to burgers in Prague, this place holds legendary status! They were one of the first to start the burger revolution in the city almost a decade ago, and it was they who helped give birth to the Prague Burgerfest.

Their burgers are made from 100% Certified Organic beef from the Besednice farm in South Bohemia and they are prepared on a special X-Oven Grill.

They also cater for those with gluten-free needs. You can order directly from their take-away window. In short – food porn!

Nebu

Their motto is “Art, Food & Love” and they certainly live up to this with a menu which focusses on customer satisfaction. Nebu offers an array of flavours which are topped with even more flavours, making it the perfect Pan-Asian Restaurant.

Everything is good at this place, but we especially recommend the Spicy Masala Chicken Wings, Indian Tacos, the spicy Vindaloo, and the wonderful Tandoori platters.

Food can be picked up directly at the restaurant, or you can also take advantage of their free home delivery service.

Lasagneria

If lasagne blows your mind, then Lasagneria will light the fuse! If you thought lasagne was just a concoction of cheese layers and beef ragu, then think again.

As well as the traditional Bolognese classic, the venue offers various different lasagnas such as Amatriciana, Quattro Formaggi, Carbonara, Pesto, and many more. Vegan options are also available.

And check this out! If you are having a house party, they can prepare an extra-large lasagne and you can pretend to your guests that you made it! Orders can be picked up at their window, or you can also avail of the Wolt delivery service.

Bee’s Restaurant

Under normal circumstances, Bee’s is a restaurant where you can indulge all your senses. Despite the current restrictions, you can still indulge your sense of taste thanks to a wonderfully prepared take-away menu.

They rely on fresh, tasty, and seasonal ingredients from domestic suppliers. When you combine this with their special culinary approach, the end results are mouth-watering.

Beef burgundy with sautéed spaetzles and buttery brussels sprouts; creamy saffron linguini with shrimps; and risotto with radicchio, gorgonzola cheese, and roasted pear……These are just a few of the mouth-watering examples which Bee’s are offering during the lockdown. Philly & Co’s Original Cheesesteaks

This place was founded in 2018, by Chicago natives Philip Schniedermeier (Philly) and Jeff Couloute (Co) with one mission: To bring the best possible cheesesteak to the beautiful city of Prague. We can safely say “Mission Accomplished”!

A Philly cheesesteak is a popular type of street food in America, and if you haven’t tried one yet. You are definitely missing out.

Philly & Co’s are trying to make the most of the current lockdown by adding new items to their menu, such as Jumbo Mozzarella Sticks and Slinging Buffalo or Tangy BBQ chicken wings. Orders can be picked up at the restaurant, or delivered through Wolt, BoltFood, and Dáme Jídlo.

Oliveira

At Oliveira, you are invited to ‘Taste Portugal’ courtesy of delicious dishes which are best enjoyed when combined with one of their fully-flavored Portuguese wines.

Their tapas offerings are of the highest quality and are made from the finest Portuguese ingredients.

They also offer a large selection of Portuguese wines and typical groceries such as cheeses, sausages, cod-fish and marmalades, all of which can be purchased through their online store. Orders can be collected from the restaurant or delivered via Dáme Jídlo.

Gran Fierro

Gran Fierro offers Argentinian cuisine with a special twist.  They combine master grilling techniques with the best possible produce to ensure customers can enjoy a memorable culinary experience.

Among other things, they offer an array of croquettes and empanadas all of which will delight your taste buds…….And they’re Argentinian, so it goes without saying that their steaks are to die for!

Gran Fierro also offers the widest selection of Argentine wines in Prague. Orders can be picked up directly at the restaurant or delivered via Wolt.
