Renowned British electronic music pioneers, The Prodigy, are scheduled to make a highly-anticipated return to Prague on December 7, 2023, as part of their captivating ‘Army of the Ants’ Tour. Currently in the midst of an exhilarating lineup of international festival headline shows for the spring and summer season, the band is set to kick off their tour on November 28 in Luxembourg. Originating in Braintree, Essex, UK, back in 1990, The Prodigy was formed by Liam Howlett, Keith Flint, and Leeroy Thornhill. With their distinctive fusion of techno, breakbeat, big beat, and hardcore, the group gained widespread recognition. Their debut album, “Experience,” released in 1992, played a significant role in shaping the 90s rave scene. In 1994, their second album, “Music for the Jilted Generation,” earned them a Mercury Prize nomination. KinoBus is Back in Prague: This Year it Will Offer 22 Films at 11 Locations

Summer cinemas are synonymous with Prague. The traditional summer cinema in Prague is the Kinobus from Dopravní podnik, which started its 16th season on Monday 26 June. Half of the films screened will be from Czech filmmakers. Foreign films include Top Gun: Maverick, What Have We All Done to Whom, Super-Blb, The Good Boss, and the animated film Puss in Boots. Screenings will start after dark, depending on current conditions. Admission to the film screening is always free. Capacity is 200 seats and 25 blankets will be available for rent on site for a refundable deposit of CZK 100. However, the transport company recommends that spectators take their own blankets in case it gets cold in the evening. There is also a new refreshment stand for this year’s tour. There will be beer from the Bakalář brewery, prosecco, Aperol spritz, and quesadilla with jerked meat. SOS Children’s Villages is a partner of the DPP Cinema Bus again this year. Audiences will be able to contribute any voluntary admission fee to a collection box that will always be on site during the screening. Prague to Host Re-Enactment of Charles Bridge Foundation Ceremony

The Charles Bridge Museum in Prague will mark the 666th anniversary of the foundation of the Charles Bridge on July 9 (Sunday). All of them will take place in the early morning and are free of charge. At 5:00 a.m., there will be a historical costume procession with the King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV and his wife. A medieval procession of knights on horseback, musicians, entertainers, city officials, and other entourage members will march from the Lesser Town to the Old Town Bridge Tower. At 5:31, on Křížovnické náměstí Square, a reenactment of the ceremony laying the first stone of the Charles Bridge will begin. It was on this day, at this hour and minute in 1357, that the emperor gave the start to the construction of the bridge. Interestingly enough, the date July 9 and the time 5:31 were chosen on the advice of astrologers who, according to the location of the planets, considered it most favorable for the beginning of construction. June 26: Czech Philharmonic to Perform Traditional Open-Air Concert

The Czech Philharmonic’s regular open-air Concert will take place on June 26 at the end of this year’s season.  The event will take place once again at Hradčanské náměstí, opposite Prague Castle. Musicians under the direction of conductor Petr Altrichter will perform works by outstanding Czech classical musicians such as Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Zdeněk Fibich and Vitezslav Novák. The concert will start at 20:15. Admission to the open air concert is free. However, limited seating is available, and no reservations are possible. Most of the audience is standing. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra is the best known and most respected symphonic orchestra in the Czech Republic. It was founded 127 years ago in Prague. In 2008 it was listed among the 20 best orchestras in the world by English magazine Gramophone. The Czech Philharmonic has won many awards, ten Grand Prix du Disque de l’Académie Charles Cros, five Grand Prix du disque de l’Académie française and several Cannes Classical Awards. Pablo Picasso’s Exhibition in Prague. “The Dove of Peace” Will be on Display

An exhibition showcasing the works of Pablo Picasso is taking place in Prague, featuring notable paintings such as The Dove of Peace and The Woman of Avignon. These artworks have been sourced from private collections and will be accessible to the public at the “Homage to Pablo Picasso” exhibition, scheduled from Thursday, June 15, to Saturday, June 17. The exhibition will be held at the Novák House passage situated at Vodičkova 30, Prague 1. In addition to Picasso’s paintings, the exhibition will include artworks by Adolf Hoffmeister, a close friend of Pablo Picasso whom he befriended before the Second World War.
