Independent Film Festival Returns to Prague with Global Lineup

The Prague Independent Film Festival (PIFF) will return this September, bringing international filmmakers and audiences together for three days of screenings, discussions, and presentations. Unknown Manuscripts of “Good Soldier Švejk” Discovered in Prague Archives

A remarkable discovery has come to light in Prague: previously unknown manuscripts of Jaroslav Hašek’s novel “The Good Soldier Švejk” have been uncovered in the archives of the Museum of Czech Literature. The find includes sections of the novel that the author wrote or dictated before his death in 1923, shedding fresh light on the creation of one of the most translated works in Czech literary history. The material surfaced during the cataloguing of the estate of Karel Synek, Hašek’s publisher, whose personal and professional documents are preserved at the museum’s Literary Archive. Among them were fragments of Part II and extensive manuscripts from Part III and Part IV of The Fateful Adventures of the Good Soldier Švejk During the World War. Florence + The Machine to Bring Their First Prague Concert to O2 Arena

Florence + The Machine will perform in Prague for the first time next year, with a concert scheduled at the O2 Arena on March 5, 2026. National Theatre Launches New Season with Free All-Day Open-Air Event

The National Theatre will celebrate the launch of its 2025/26 season with an expansive, free event on Monday, 1 September 2025, from 14:00 to 22:00, taking place outdoors on Střelecký Island in Prague. The National Open Air festival brings together every artistic ensemble of the National Theatre. Oasis in Prague? Online Tour Schedule Sparks Fan Speculation

Human Ancestor Lucy Makes First European Appearance in Prague

The famous fossil of Lucy, a 3.18-million-year-old Australopithecus afarensis, is being displayed in Europe for the first time at Prague’s National Museum. The 52 bone fragments, on loan from Ethiopia’s National Museum in Addis Ababa, will remain on view for 60 days as part of the exhibition Human Origins and Fossils. Lucy was discovered in Ethiopia in 1974 by Donald Johanson and became one of the most complete early human ancestor finds of its time. Her remains include parts of the pelvis, skull, and femur, offering groundbreaking insight into human evolution. Alongside Lucy, visitors can also see Selam, the fossilized skeleton of a young Australopithecus who lived about 100,000 years earlier and was unearthed in the same region in 2000 by Zeresenay Alemseged.
