Babiš: “Russian Interference is Unacceptable”

Following reports from the Czech weekly Respekt, of a Russian plot to assassinate two political figures in Prague using ricin, PM Andrej Babiš (ANO) said that the Czech Republic “is a sovereign state, and we would certainly not let any of the world’s powers to influence our political affairs in any way.” “It is impossible – if true – for some foreign country to take some actions here against our citizens,” Babis added. The Mayor of Prague Hřib approved the renaming of a square where the Russian Embassy is located after slain Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov. Remdesivir Cleared For Use On Covid-19 Patients in Four Czech Hospitals

According to the country’s leading epidemiology expert, Deputy Health Minister Roman Prymula, the drug will be administered in four Czech hospitals: Prague’s Motol, Bulovka, and General University hospitals and the St. Anne’s Hospital in Brno Remdesivir was created and developed by Gilead Sciences, under the direction of scientist Tomáš Cihlář, as a treatment for Ebola virus disease and Marburg virus infections. Gilead Sciences subsequently discovered that remdesivir had antiviral activity in vitro against multiple filo-, pneumo-, paramyxo-, and coronaviruses. The experimental drug will only be administered to patients requiring a ventilator for their condition. Breaking: State of Emergency Extended Until May 17

The lower house of the Czech parliament voted on Tuesday to extend a state of emergency until May 17, a week less than the government had sought, as the country charts a course to emerge from a coronavirus lockdown earlier than forecast. The extension is a week shorter than the government sought. The prime minister, Andrej Babiš, had asked for an extension until 25 May to be able to keep restrictions on business in place. The state of emergency was due to expire on 30 April. The government of Andrej Babiš and the Social Democrats have been trying to secure sufficient support for the extension, but the opposition parties remained firmly against it. It has announced that it now expects to reopen the economy faster than previously forecast, although not in time for the deadline now set by parliament. Czech Republic to Keep Temporary Internal Border Controls in Place for 20 More Days

The Czech Republic has decided to prolong the temporary reintroduction of border control at the land borders with Germany and Austria, as well as the air borders, which were set to expire on April 24, for another 20 days, until May 14th, with the possibility of further extension. Russia Sent Special Agent With Poison to Prague After Demolition of Konev Monument

Three weeks ago, a Russian intelligence operative flew to Prague. He was driven directly from Prague airport by a Russian diplomatic car to the Russian Embassy in Prague, carrying a suitcase with „ricin“ poison, according to Czech intelligence sources.
