What will be behind the round windows on the Prague riverside? Twenty wall cubicles will contain galleries, studios, and cafés. The Open Day shows visitors the repaired areas, in a provisional regime though, as the renewed dungeons opened to the public yesterday and today (October 24th). They should start regular service in November, as the full procedure is not possible yet due to an unfinished occupancy permit process. After completing the occupancy permit process and moving to regular services, these new facilities will quickly host their visitors and survive the flood in the upcoming winter. The organizers have also prepared guided tours or a boat ride between the two riverbanks. On both embankments, there should now be three galleries, three studios, three toilets, two workshops or a branch of the Municipal Library. The rest will be filled with cafes. Tenants and operators of individual cubicles will show their future functioning. They are modernly equipped for the flood season the whole year. Their most distinctive element is the circular glass, which acts as a revolving door. The movement is controlled by the sensors and motor so that it opens and closes quickly and prevents collisions with visitors.
Plant a tree, build a house and beget a son. This is the oldest traditional list of life achievements that every good man should achieve. Thanks to the latest project of the Czech studio DDAANN and Lukáš Otevřel, virtually anyone can uncheck the first two tasks, thus giving them the opportunity to fulfill their third mission. Building your own house in the suburbs of a larger city can be very costly and up to many millions of crowns. Hence, post-construction is often accompanied by many compromises and concessions, making the resulting house not as comfortable as the owners originally imagined. An increasing number of people, and in other places, living in these dwellings are forming their own communities. This phenomenon arrived in the Czech Republic quite recently and it is still in its very beginnings. DONE and it’s done! Tiny house can be a real style, evidenced by the latest domestic project called Tiny House DONE, which allows an owner to not only own housing but the possibility to build their own house, as well. DONE is a minimalist prefabricated wooden building created by architects Daniel Baudis and Rohan from the DDAANN studio, who also teamed up with Lukáš Otevřel...

Alternative rock once ruled the music halls and radio-waves, but that was ages (certainly decades) ago. Among the most influential groups in alt/indie rock, Sonic Youth ended as a band in 2011, and it was a tabloid affair for indie rockers’ media sphere, since they had been the foremost alt-rock band in the States for two decades, led by Thurston Moore and his wife Kim Gordon with Lee Renaldo since 1981. However, Thurston Moore has had his own group since then carrying on the torch as a sonic rocker and experimenter continually expanding his horizons, but not at all with the attitude of “no looking back.” His current tour is for their most recent album “Spirit Council” an artistic tour de force in his wide discography. It is a collection of three exceptionally-long instrumental compositions recorded between 2018-19 representing a period of his life reflecting on spiritual matters, collective musical friendships, and overall, a meditative sonic exploration—a deeply reflective effort both compelling and explosive. Just as Bob Dylan dissected his failed relationship in one of his best albums “Blood on the Tracks,” Moore’s “Spirit Council” could be acknowledged as a similar gesture, but in epic instrumental tracks. After all, Sonic...

If we are thinking about what we can do for living a healthier lifestyle the first expected change should obviously occur to our food habits and thereafter naturally the second most important element is to add some activity to our daily schedule. As I am not a big fan of classic gyms, I always try to combine fun with a great workout at the same time. That’s why I look for an activity I can easily do both alone, or with a group of friends. Recently my friends dragged me into a bouldering studio. Climbing in the studio always looked to be fun and very easy activity. I was sure I could do it without any problems. But the opposite was the truth. Climbing is a 100% full-body workout. As you might think you work just your upper body, you actually putting in stress also your lower body, legs, shoulders, arms and of course your back. While you are making a great workout, you easily burn around 700 calories just by one session. But be prepared, climbing without proper muscle preparation can be challenging. I highly recommend getting into the shape before you kick off your climbing seasons. Build slowly strength...
