Pavel Nedvěd has come out of retirement to play alongside his son for Czech amateur side FC Skalna. Today, the retired Czech football legend will join the ranks of small hometown club Skalná 1.B in a match which could see up to 2,500 visitors. Nedved grew up in the Czech town and started his career at FC Skalna (he joined the local team at the age of five and went on to play at youth level for eight years), while his son, Pavel Jr, is already a registered player at the club. The match, against Královský Poříčí B, will kick-off at 2 pm. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will be appointed government head again on June 6, he said on Thursday. The statement followed his meeting with President Zeman, Reuters reports. The ANO party won the most votes but feel short of a majority. It has so far failed to find majority support because most parties refuse to join a cabinet led by Babiš, who faces criminal charges of abusing EU subsidies a decade ago. ANO has struck a preliminary deal to form a new government coalition with the center-left Social Democrats, but that still requires approval by Social Democrat party members in a referendum running until June 14. Babiš said he and Zeman discussed various options and names, and he did not want to comment on this because it is still not clear. He said they will certainly wait for the outcome of the referendum of CSSD. Babiš said he presumed that after being appointed, he would be given a deadline to a form a new cabinet. On the streets of Prague appeared two unusual black trams: they are covered with real excuses of people caught without a ticket on public transport. The project is called Vymlouvačka and is part of a campaign to reduce the number of illegal passengers, or “black riders,” in mass and integrated transport in Prague. One of the trams runs on the 17th route, the other – on the 13th. You can read the following excuses: “Dog ate my ticket”, “My son was playing with the ticket and lost it”, “I could not buy the ticket with an SMS because my hands froze. I waited to warm up”, “I have other worries – my guinea pig died today”, “I just have one stop,” and others. “The main goal of the campaign is to draw the attention that unlimited travel costs only Kč 10 a day. Compared to other European and even some Czech cities, this is the most advantageous price,” ROPID representative Martin Schubert said. The Czech government has approved some changes to the rules for exchanging money, and these will benefit the public. Most importantly, people will have a chance to get their money back if they discover the deal was unfavorable. The amendment to the Foreign Exchange Act still needs to pass both houses of Parliament and be signed by the president. If it passes, it will take effect three months after its publication. The poor state of regulation of exchange places has been an ongoing issue that gives Prague a bad reputation. This issue has been brought to light recently in a widely watched series of videos by Janek Rubeš, who posts on YouTube under the name the Honest Guide. Estonia’s Taxify is set to step up its fight against global rival Uber across Europe and Africa after raising $175 million in funding from a group led by German automaker Daimler. Didi also participated in the round, along with European venture capital fund Korelya Capital and TransferWise co-founder Taavet Hinrikus, with more than $100m of the investment coming from the German carmaker. The company said it plans to deploy the capital to develop its technology and make further expansions in Europe and Africa. Prague residents using the city subway system can now access 10 newly installed cryptocurrency ATMs. Locations of these ATMs as revealed by General bytes, are: Flora, Skalka, Florenc, Můstek, Dejvická, Zličín, Černý Most, Pankrác, Nádraží Veleslavín, and Hlavní Nádraží. Some 71 percent of Czechs support the ban on smoking in restaurants, which has been in effect for about one year. The ban is opposed by 12 percent of people, according to a survey of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University made in cooperation with the Ipsos agency. People also go to restaurants more often than three years ago, according to the survey. Traffic has increased mainly due to customers who rarely went in the past, mostly non-smokers. The Legatum Institute released its 11th annual global Prosperity Index, a huge survey that ranks the most prosperous countries in the world. The organization compared 104 variables to come up with its list. These variables include traditional indicators like per-capita gross domestic product and the number of people in full-time work, but also more interesting figures such as the number of secure internet servers a country has, and how well-rested people feel on a day-to-day basis. The variables are then split into nine subindexes: economic quality, business environment, governance, personal freedom, social capital, safety and security, education, health, and natural environment. 28.
