Scoopers deliver waste removal services and clients pay after the pickup is complete. Interested consumers can choose from an array of subscription-based plans with services spanning 14 U.S. cities. Though the app has less than 20 reviews on the Apple Store, the premise is reminiscent of an interesting problem here in Prague — the growing concern over dog poop. Until recently, there were not many organizations helping ill animals. Now, there is one changing the paradigm for disabled cats and dogs so they can live a better life. Handipet Rescue is a Czech project which aims to help sick and disabled animals wherever they come from. Such help includes specialized medical examinations, providing medication and post-surgical care, physiotherapy, shelter, and facilitating adoption among other care services. Handipet Rescue is more than a local shelter. There are currently 30 animals at Handipet Rescue who receive specialized care and shelter by the Handipet Rescue team and other medical professionals which usually include ophthalmologists, orthopedics, and cardiologists. “We do everything that is possible for the animals under our care because we believe that every life matters”, says Denisa Falešníková, “we do not stop just because some cases are complicated, and euthanasia is the last option when everything else fails.” Handipet Rescue always welcomes volunteers from Prague to help them with sending packages, making buttons for their charity shop Pet Heroes Shop, among other tasks. The largest COVID-19 vaccination centre in the Czech Republic started its operations on May 3, 2021. The contract to rent the premises of the O2 Universum was valid until 31. 7. 2021, with the possibility of an extension. The O2 Universum was repurposed from a concert and sport hall into a vaccination centre over the span of several weeks, with 24 stations set up across 13,000 square meters. The country, which was one of the hardest hit by the pandemic in earlier waves, has seen low infection rates since the summer months. In the past two weeks, it has reported 25 cases per 100,000 people, compared with 137 in Germany, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Bill Gates’ Cascade Investment LLC is taking control of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts by buying about half of Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed bin Talal’s stake for $2.21 billion, the hotel operator said on Wednesday. Cascade will acquire half of the billionaire prince’s stake in Four Seasons, raising its ownership to 71.3% and valuing the hotel chain at $10 billion on an enterprise basis. Founded in 1960 by Isadore Sharp, Four Seasons now has 121 hotels and resorts, and 46 residential properties in 47 countries. The company entered public markets in 1997 but undertook a transaction to go private in 2007 under an agreement between Cascade, KHC and Sharp, who now holds five percent of the company. Cascade declined to comment beyond the press release. The firm first invested in Four Seasons in 1997.
