In the three weeks of its operation, almost five hundred people have used the services of the mobile vaccination center. The bus has been vaccinating people in many different places in the metropolis without the need for prior reservations. The bus will have several more stops throughout Prague this month. The individual stations of the vaccination bus are located in popular places or cultural events spots around the city. On August 27, the Vaccination Bus will stop at the parking garage in front of the Černý Most Center and at the Rašín embankment for the Auta na náplavce event (August 28 and 29). Prague has many iconic sights that become great souvenirs for the city’s visitors. Recently, new items designed and made by local artists were added as official city merchandise- crystal glasses, comics, jewelry made of rose glass, and so on. According to Klára Malá, a spokeswoman for Prague City Tourism (PCT), the Czech capital wants to support artists, be a more sustainable city, and actively promote tourism. One of the things I really enjoy in Prague is the countless little ways the city is connected. There are numerous shortcuts locals use to get around efficiently; passages in the center, and especially here in Nusle – staircases and walkways. I would like to share one of my favorites, which connects the Vinohrady and Vyšehrad quarters. It’s a beautiful walk, especially during the golden hour, just before the sun starts to set and the last bits of warm light paint the building like the strokes of a paintbrush rosy and orangey colors. Take the Horská street from the Albertov tram station and walk up between the university buildings till you get to the staircase with a red handrail. Walk up the stairs and enjoy the skyline view at the top. My favorite time to come is just before the bells start to ring (the Vyšehrad bells ring every hour). If you come before 6 p.m., you can visit Ztracenka park, one of the most magical hidden gardens in the city in my opinion. Interior Minister Jan Hamacek will discuss the integration of the Afghans who are being transferred from Kabul to the Czech Republic with regional governors. Meanwhile, Prague City will offer help with the integration of Afghans who have previously worked for the Czech army or diplomatic service. Named after the district that hosts it, Prague 4, Pankrác prison was built between 1885 and 1889. At the time, the primary need was to replace the by then outdated and dilapidated prison of Saint Wenceslaus, which was located between Karlovo náměstí and the Vltava. The new detention center, which was then in an open countryside area (today it has the appearance of a Prague financial district, with banks, offices and shopping centers), was part of a vast Austro-Hungarian expansion project of the city and was supposed to represent the development of new technological and infrastructural systems in the sector of atonement for sentences, up to then unseen in the Empire, so much so that, even today, the prison remains a significant institution in the penal universe of the Czech Republic. The rumble of a helicopter woke up many citizens in the capital’s Holešovice district early on Thursday morning. Czech Police are currently searching for the driver of a truck that avoided a police check and went on to crash. The driver fled the vehicle together with a group of mainly Syrian migrants, 29 of whom have thus far been detained by the Czech Foreign Police. “At about the 4th kilometer of the D1, the Central Bohemian traffic police wanted to check a van going to Prague. However, the driver fled away from the crime scene. Almost 30 other people ran out of the vehicle with him,” said Richard Hrdina, spokesman for the Prague police. “We managed to detain 29 foreigners, who come mainly from Syria. They were transferred to the headquarters of the foreigner police, which took over the case and there will be a standard investigation,” Hrdina added.
