Police released online maps of crime in the Czech Republic in which people can see the numbers of various types of crimes and offenses in individual municipalities and their parts. The map is available at this link. The map also says when a crime was reported and whether the perpetrator was found or not. The exact locations in which the crimes were committed cannot be seen on the map in order to protect the victims and their personal data. Images of an apartment styled as a metro carriage has been shared across social media. But this isn’t a novelty – the owner has listed the apartment’s lease as tourism dries up in the city due to Coronavirus. It is located in the Zizkov district, in Prague 3. The owner clearly has a warm feeling for Prague’s subway. The apartment comes in at just 14 square meters but has been packed with details that any Prague traveller will recognize: front doors, handrails, seats, armchairs, and even a window. A restaurant in Kunratice and a nightclub in the centre of Prague are facing the threat of a 3 million crowns fine after opening despite the government’s Coronavirus restrictions banning them from doing so. Prague City Hall is beginning administrative proceedings with both companies, spokesman Vít Hofman confirmed. “We have been in contact with the police since the beginning. We will deal with the cases as soon as the police hand them over to us. Subsequently, we will initiate administrative proceedings,” Hofman added. The Prague City Hall has published the official video of the Christmas tree lighting in the Old Town Square. Unfortunately, the traditional lighting ceremony did not take place. Christmas markets have also been canceled. The decoration of the spruce is in the colors of the national tricolor. The tree is decorated with six kilometers of light strings, several hundred Christmas balls in blue, white and red, forty light stars and the decoration at the top are three meters high. By the end of the year, Vaclav Havel Prague Airport will lay off a fifth of its employees. In spring, 450 jobs have already been cut, another 150 people will be laid off by 2020. “Despite all efforts, Prague Airport is unfortunately forced to eliminate some jobs. By the end of 2020, about 150 positions will be cut, mainly operational and administrative positions,” said Prague Airport spokeswoman Kateřina Pavlíková. The airport employs around 2,900 people. About 200,000 workers in the Czech Republic can lose their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic, the director of CzechTourism, Jan Herget has warned. On November 24, 1985, the construction of the Žižkov Tower began. The project was created under the leadership of the architect Václav Aulický and the structural designer Jiří Kozák in 1984; the foundation stone of the Žižkov tower was laid one year later.
