For example, in March the online store RuzovySlon.cz increased the sales year-on-year by 50 percent, in the first week of April even by one hundred percent. “Shops to Open Within April, Borders Gradually. Summer Festivals Won’t Happen,” Said Vojtěch

After a month of tightening lockdowns across Europe to combat coronavirus, the Czech Republic will in the coming weeks become one the first European countries to loosen restrictions on daily life and business. Self-Employed Can Now Apply for “Compensation Bonus”

A lump-sum payment of CZK 25,000 to self-employed workers was one of a number of economic measures announced by the government on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. This provision affects about half a million people in the country. You can apply following this link and download the form, fill in your personal information, check the box on the left „Plná částka“ and sign it. Then, you need to email the form to your local tax office and write in the subject field „Žádost o kompenzační bonus pro OSVČ”. Thursday Recap: Coronavirus Updates in the Czech Republic

The Czech government has officially extended the State of Emergency to April 30, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said on Thursday.   Prague may lose up to 64 billion CZK in revenues due to the new coronavirus outbreak which halted tourism   As of April, labor offices in the Czech Republic have registered 27,151 people seeking to find employment, a nearly two-fold increase compared to the first week of March. Despite this, at 3 percent, the unemployment rate remains the same as it was in February.   The Czech Chamber of Deputies has approved a government bill that allows the police to fine people who are violating anti-coronavirus restrictions. The fine could be up to 10,000 CZK.   The government has eased the obligation to wear face masks. It’s not obligatory anymore for people with autism and public transport drivers in a closed cabin.   The Czech Republic will donate 25 million CZK to the countries hit by the coronavirus pandemic. The money will be predominantly given to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Cambodia. Nudists on Czech beaches Reprimanded for Not Wearing Face Masks

Nudists who sunbathed without protective face masks in the Czech Republic have been reprimanded by police and warned that clothes may be optional but masks are not. More than a hundred people, including nudists, descended on the Czech spa town of Lázně Bohdaneč to enjoy the good weather. But with the Czech government insisting that face masks be worn at all times in public, police soon arrived to enforce the rules. ‘Unfortunately, the sunbathing citizens were in one place in larger numbers and some did not even have a mask,’ police spokeswoman Markéta Janovská told local media. ‘Citizens can be without clothes in places designated for this purpose, but they must have their mouths covered and must observe the numbers in which they can go into nature.’ Officers checked on 150 people enjoying the town’s lakes and found roughly half without the required protection. Wednesday Recap: Coronavirus Updates in the Czech Republic

Police officers could be authorized to impose fines of up to CZK 10,000 for violating coronavirus measures. The Chamber of Deputies approved the bill draft. Now it goes to the Senate for the final step.   As of 14 April, travelling abroad for “essential activities” will be allowed. This will include business trips, assembly of a production facility, visit a doctor or a relative. Each trip will be followed by 14 days of obligatory quarantine upon return.   The number of cases in the Czech Republic increased to 5221, 99 people died, and the number of cured cases increased to 233. There are currently 403 Covid-19 positive patients in the hospitals, out of which 89 (22%) in the intensive care. Czech TV to Show Virus Lockdown Sitcom

Czech Television said Monday it was planning to shoot a “Love in the Time of Corona” sitcom on the spread of the novel coronavirus and screen it by the end of April. “One house, three generations and a global pandemic,” reads the trailer for the six-episode series on the public broadcaster’s website. The show, an apparent paraphrase of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s novel “Love in the Time of Cholera”, will be filmed in a Prague block of flats from April 14 and screened from April 27. The characters are a teenager whose parents are locked down abroad, an old man who has to live on his own with his wife stuck outside their city and a young married couple whose relationship is put to an isolation test, Czech TV said. It called on viewers to send in anecdotes related to quarantine as the authors have the script only for the opening episode. “We only have one screenplay and we’ll definitely need help,” said producer Tomas Baldynsky. Tuesday Recap: Coronavirus Updates in the Czech Republic

On Tuesday, the health ministry reported 237 new cases of coronavirus. Health workers carried out 6,233 tests in total on Monday, meaning the official infection rate for that day stood at 3.8 percent. This is well below the epidemic’s daily average of 5.3 percent in the Czech Republic, based on a total of 4,828 confirmed infections from 91,247 tests   Eight people died from COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the death toll in the country to 80.   On Tuesday, the Chamber of Deputies voted to extend the state of emergency until April 30. It had been scheduled to expire on April 12. Babiš and Hamáček had been pushing for a 30-day extension.
