Czech Defense Minister Calls For Withdrawal From UN Following Israel Ceasefire Resolution

Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová, expressing outrage at a United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for Israel to cease its operations in the Gaza Strip, called for the Czech Republic to withdraw from the UN on Saturday. “I know that today is an important day for [the Czech Republic] and we want to celebrate our 105th anniversary. But this simply cannot be time-barred, forgive me. Exactly three weeks ago, Hamas murdered more than 1,400 Israelis, which is more victims per their population than the militant Islamist organization al-Qaeda murdered on 9/11/2001 in the USA. And only 14 countries, including ours, stood up against the unprecedented terrorist attack committed by Hamas terrorists, clearly and comprehensible! “I am ashamed of the UN. In my opinion – the Czech Republic has nothing to expect in an organization that supports terrorists and does not respect the basic right to self-defense. VIDEO: Bartender in Prague Refuses to Serve Jewish Customers

At the popular U Hrocha beer house in Prague’s Malá Strana, a bartender refused service to a group of three Jewish people – two men and a woman. The situation escalated to the point where police had to step in. The incident occurred last Wednesday evening, on October 25, and was initially reported by CNN Prima News. According to witnesses and the victims, the Jewish guests, one of whom was wearing a yarmulke, attempted to order beer. However, the bartender claimed they had run out, even as he continued to serve other customers. The bartender went on to argue that the Jewish customers had angered him with their supposed association with a nearby “retarded demonstration,” which, in reality, was organized by supporters of Palestine, not Israel. When they clarified that they had no involvement in the demonstration, the bartender abruptly declared there was no space left in the pub and gestured towards the door, adding, “Forget you all.” This exchange escalated into a verbal altercation. Trams on Lazarská – Jindřišská Section Will be Disrupted For Two Weeks

From 30 October to 9 November, tram tracks on the Lazarská – Jindřišská section in the centre of Prague will undergo repair works. Trams 3, 5, 6, 9, 14, 24, 91, 92, 94, 95, 96 and 98 will have to divert their routes. The compensatory bus route will not be introduced. Passengers are advised to use the metro as an alternative. The Prague Transport Company has published a diversion scheme for trams affected by the restriction. Details can be found here.   Major repairs to tram tracks are also taking place in Holešovice. The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) said work will occur from October 27 to December 5 on the section of track between Bubenská and Na Zátorách streets. This spans the underpass beneath the railway to Kralupy. During the project, several tram lines will be diverted from their normal routes through the area. Lines 6, 12, 14, 17, 93 and 94 will all see temporary adjustments.

NEW VIDEO: How Prague’s Future Cable Car Will Look Like

The Prague Transport Company published a preview of the city’s forthcoming cable car, set to connect the districts of Podbaba, Troja, and Bohnice. The video illustrated the envisioned route and stations, providing an intriguing insight into the transformative project, showcasing the cable car’s route and infrastructure, and the cabins. The lack of a decent public transport connection between Prague 6 and Prague 8 has long been a source of consternation for local residents. At the moment, although it looks to be only a short hop across the river on a map, if you want to get from Podbaba to Bohnice you have to take an extremely circuitous route that weaves around and across the Vltava and takes around 40 minutes. The cable car will decrease this travel time down to only 15 minutes – making it even quicker than going by car. There will also be an intermediary station in Troja, which will be located by the future new entrance to the zoo. This should solve another transit issue, as at the moment, accessing the zoo by public transport is similarly taxing, as it is currently only served by the overcrowded bus link 112. Czechia to Prosecute Pro-Russian Activist Who Called for Country’s ‘De-Ukrainization’

Czech authorities are preparing to prosecute Nela Liskova, a pro-Russian activist who styled herself as an “honorary consul” to Russian occupation authorities in Donetsk Oblast, for spreading hatred against Ukrainians online, Czech Television reported on Oct. 25. Liskova, a Czech citizen who is, according to local fact-checking sites, close to the country’s pro-Russian disinformation sphere, called Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky a “Nazi monster” in her post on the social media platform X in June. “De-Ukrainization and de-Nazification of the Czech Republic, that will be our task!” Liskova wrote in a statement that prompted an investigation by law enforcement. The Czech police recently completed their investigation into Liskova’s post and handed her case over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, Czech Television reported. Czechia Invests Almost CZK 24 Billion for Railway Modernization

Thanks to the largest loan ever taken out by that country from the EIB. Yesterday, the Czech Republic signed a loan agreement to the tune of CZK 24 billion (equivalent to 992 million euros) with the European Investment Bank (EIB) with the aim of drastically modernizing its railway network. The loan is the largest that the Central European country has ever taken out from that bank. The use of a loan from the European Investment Bank is the most economical and efficient solution to obtain funds for a strategic investment such as the digitalisation and automation of railway transportation, given the current level of the general government budget deficit,” said Czech Minister of Finance Zbyněk Stanjura, giving the reason for the choice of that type of financing. Making Czech railway transport fit for the 21st century The stated horizon for the planned modernization of the Czech railways is 2027 and the funds will be managed through the Railway Administration of the country.
