A Tainan-based automation equipment manufacturer said Tuesday it will donate a 3D surgical face mask production system to the Czech Republic, helping the European country combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Autoland Technology Co., Ltd. General Manager Kuo Li-lin said the system, which consists of five fully-automated high-end 3D mask production lines, will be jointly donated by his company and a group of machinery industry leaders in southern Taiwan. The system, which costs US$1.52 million, can produce 43,000 masks per day. It will be completed by the company and sent to the Czech Republic before the end of October, Kuo added. Czech Republic has not resumed the issuance of tourist visas to the Chinese, which is, like other EU states, suspended over the COVID pandemic in January, CzechTourism state agency head Jan Herget said today, reacting to China’s warning of its people against going to the Czech Republic with its rising COVID-19 incidence. The number of flights between Europe and China is minimum at present, Herget said. Last year, according to the CZSO, about 610,000 Chinese tourists stayed in the Czech Republic, spending an average of 1.5 nights. Slovakia will rank the Czech Republic among high-risk countries from this Friday (September 18) due to the spread of coronavirus, the Slovak Central Crisis Staff decided today. The State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Martin Klus, informed about it on Twitter. When traveling from the Czech Republic to Slovakia, people will, with some exceptions, have to submit a negative coronavirus test result (not older than 72 hours) or quarantine for five days and then undergo the test. A bus has been driven into a ditch off a highway in Germany, leaving 31 injured, German media reported on Saturday. The injured are not in life-threatening conditions, according to a local police spokesperson. The bus was heading from Prague to Hamburg. Switzerland has included the Czech Republic in the list of countries at risk due to the spread of coronavirus. From Monday, people will have to quarantine for ten days after arriving from the Czech Republic.
