A total of 17 airlines have already announced their intention to resume direct flights from Prague Airport. Specifically, 55 destinations have been listed, ten of which are already in operation. This week, direct flights to seven other destinations will be resumed, namely to Belgrade, Brussels, Budapest, Košice, Keflavik, Manchester and Munich. Thanks to intensive negotiations between Prague Airport and airlines, the list of destinations could expand further in the coming weeks. “Thanks to our intensive negotiations with airlines, Prague Airport is gradually succeeding in resuming direct flights. At the moment we have confirmed a total of 55 destinations. Airlines are returning to their routes from Prague in line with the relaxation of traveling measures and, above all, in response to the demand for flying shown by passengers. The number of coronavirus cases in the Czech Republic rose to more than 10,000, Health Ministry data showed on Monday. To date, 10,024 people have fallen ill with Covid-19. Over 70 percent of people (7,230) have recovered. The number of people who died from the infection rose by one to 330 on Sunday. Covid-19 was diagnosed in 4.42 percent of the people tested on Saturday, the highest positive result since early April. The daily rise in case numbers has been in the range of 31-74 over the past two weeks. According to epidemiologists, the disease now has only local outbreaks in the Czech Republic, especially in the Moravian-Silesian region and Prague. From today, June 15, Czechs will mostly no longer need to wear face masks outside, even when people are close to each other. The requirement to wear facemasks will remain in place in the following cases: in all interiors of buildings, except for places of residence on all forms of public transport when participating in mass outdoor events at a distance of under 1.5 meters from others unless they are members of your household.

Poland mistakenly invaded the Czech Republic and kept army presence there in late May until the mistake was discovered and the soldiers were called back to Poland proper, CNN reported on Friday. The Polish Republic closed its borders to protect its public from the spread of the coronavirus and, to ensure that nobody entered the country, the army was sent to Pielgrzymow. Due to both nations being EU member countries, the border is not clearly marked and it is possible the soldiers simply mistook their grounds as part of Poland when it was, in fact, a foreign country. Surprised Czech citizens were told they could not visit a local church, which the soldiers thought was on the Polish side, when in fact the church and the church-goers were in the Czech Republic the entire time.
