Prague Airport continues to implement projects designed to facilitate the airport’s modernization and capacity increases, such as the reconstruction of the baggage sorting area in Terminal 1, which will partially affect the passenger check-in process this year. From Sunday, 1 March 2020 until the end of August 2020, passengers on flights of 22 selected carriers will be checked in at Terminal 2 instead of Terminal 1. For a period of time, the check-in process will not follow the division of the terminals to flights within and outside the Schengen Area. However, flights will still be boarded and handled at Terminal 1, just as now. Prague Airport has launched an extensive information campaign which will continue to run throughout the summer season to ease passenger orientation around the airport during the temporary change. “The number of handled passengers is growing every year and the airport has already reached and exceeded its capacity limits. Therefore, we have been gradually implementing projects that are part of the airport development and will contribute to its modernization and partial increases in its handling and operational capacities. The reconstruction of the baggage sorting area, which has continued for the second year and will temporarily require operational...

The year 2019 was a record one for the Prague hospitality sector in terms of transactions: the amount of investments in hospitality properties exceeded EUR 500 million. This is the highest figure in history and twice the average for the last five years. This is also the first time that the Czech Republic has made it to the Top 10 in the European hospitality investment chart – to number nine. In 2020, the volume of hospitality transactions could become twice as high – one billion Euros. Hotels as a good investment The reasons for the growth are on both the supply and demand sides. The interest among investors in hotels as investment properties is generally increasing since travel and tourism represent a sector that shows long-term growth. In addition, the hospitality segment is an attractive alternative to traditional commercial investments such as office buildings and shopping centres. Frédéric Le Fichoux, Partner & Head of Hotel Transactions for Continental Europe, Cushman & Wakefield, says: “One of the main reasons is that hotels offer attractive combinations of return and risk for various types of investors – from variable and risky income with a relatively high return rate to stable and less risky...
This old Gothic house is truly a very special place. First of all the palace belongs to an old aristocratic Kolowrat family (Kolowrat-Krakowsky line), whose members from the 13th century play an important role in the Bohemia history. Nowadays the family works over the Kolowratek Endowment Fund which supports the patronal tradition of the family. They also successfully manage the family property which consists of important historical buildings and even woods. You have to read the history of this old noble family by yourself, it is worthy of attention for sure. The building that I am writing about is placed on the Ovocný trh, as you may find more houses with the same name in the city. The Baroque building was created in two periods. In 1670 and 1672 Jan Václav Kolowrat-Novohradsky bought the land and built the new palace on the place of the medieval house U Vrabcu. You can see his coat of arms over the main entrance. The architect was Giovanni Domenico Orsi, who also worked over other family projects. It was finished around 1690 and in 1697 was bought the nearby house U Hrozny and on its place appeared the new wing of the palace which...
Prague has begun a new campaign to “tame” short-term leases offered via digital platforms. With this in mind, Councilor Hana Marvanová (United Forces for Prague/STAN) prepared a legislative initiative regulating legal standards for business in the e-commerce segment. “Unfortunately, the current legislation does not provide Prague, as well as other cities in the Czech Republic, with effective tools to address the issue. That is why I have prepared a legislative plan for legislative changes in four areas,” said Marvanová. The first proposal requires Airbnb-type platforms to provide municipalities with detailed information regarding flats involved in the business. Specifically, it should share the basic host data and number of guests. Mandatory transmission of information With a similar demand for platforms to give this information to Prague voluntarily, the capital led unsuccessful negotiations with Airbnb last year. However, Marvan is now optimistic about the possibility of enforcing more control by “force”. Last week, she presented proposals for a meeting with the Minister for Regional Development, Kateřina Dostálová (ANO), as well as representatives of parliamentary clubs and professional organizations. All those present said they supported the requirement of mandatory disclosure of information, which should lead to the enforcement of existing obligations, such as...
Music Live Concert has just been announced that Limp Bizkit will perform in Prague at Forum Karlin on August 15th. Limp Bizkit, which celebrated a quarter of a century on the music scene last year, is preparing for a Prague concert with hits such as Behind Blue Eyes cover, My Way or Break Stuff, as well as brand new recordings that appear on upcoming Stampede of the Disco Elephants. Limp Bizkit is an American nu metal band from Jacksonville, Florida. The band’s line-up consists of Fred Durst (lead vocals), Wes Borland (guitar), Sam Rivers (bass), John Otto (drums) and DJ Lethal. Limp Bizkit has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and have won several other major awards. The band has sold an estimated 35 million albums worldwide. Limp Bizkit formed in 1994 under the name “Limp Biscut”. In 1996 they changed the spelling of the name to “Limp Bizkut”, and again later that year to “Limp Bizkit” (though some concert flyers would continue to credit them as “Limp Bizkut” well into late 1997). Their work is marked by Durst’s abrasive, angry lyrics and Borland’s sonic experimentation and elaborate visual appearance, which includes face and body paint, masks and uniforms, as...
In 2017, Scottish beer brand BrewDog raised the funds on Indiegogo for what it dubbed the “world’s first craft-beer hotel,” rallying more than 2,000 people to the cause. Now, at DogHouse Hotel and Brewery (in Columbus, Ohio), guests can enjoy bathroom beer fridges, in-room draft taps and the luxury of not having to call an Uber after a night out. Whether you stay in a suite or not, you’ll have access to the same beer-based amenities. Everyone gets a free BrewDog beer upon check-in, a growler fridge you can fill up in the lobby (or on-site brewpub) that’ll keep your beer fresh during your stay, and a minibar filled with cans and bottles from some of the owner’s favorite breweries worldwide. Being located inside the BrewDog brewery, the hotel offers the opportunity to take a tour to discover every detail of the production process, and you can also learn about the history of the factory located at the gates of Aberdeen in Scotland. “Guests are able to watch the brewers at work from rooms overlooking the state-of-the-art brewing facility,” says Jason Casillas, one of the guides at BrewDog You’ll also get more info about the BrewDog brand, from its humble beginnings in...
The emerging art center will open in the spring of 2021. However, it already attracts visitors with its Facade Project
Orlando Bloom is right in the middle of filming the new series of Carnival Row, but he can still find time for his real-life leading lady, Katy Perry, who was spotted visiting him on set in Prague this week. Katy Perry took advantage of her stay in the United Kingdom, where she has been decorated by Prince Charles, to make a trip to Prague to visit her fiancé. The actor, 43, was clad in an off-white shirt and black waistcoat, complete with a black bowler hat and a pocket watch tucked into his jacket pocket. The couple was surrounded by a few members of the cast and crew mingling around them while Orlando took charge of walking their dog, allowing Katy to sip her coffee. Katy and Orlando got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019 and are rumoured to have set a wedding date for April, although they have not confirmed this. The California native had been appointed an ambassador of the British Asian Trust by Prince Charles during a gala dinner at Banqueting House on Monday. Orlando has been engaged to pop star Katy since February last year after the couple began a relationship in 2016.
This Friday and Saturday, newly formed D’Prompt Theatre will present Inevitably I Drink, a play adaptation of Venedikt Yerofeyev’s Russian prose poem Moscow Circles. Inevitably I Drink will be the inaugural production of D’Prompt Theatre, which was founded this December by theatre artists Christopher Adamson and Levan Mania. Levan Mania, the theatre’s Creative Director, wrote the adaption and English translation and serves as director of the show. This will be the world premiere of the English adaption and translation. According to Adamson, D’Prompt’s Artistic Director, the young theatre company rallied together to make their first production a reality. Adamson and Mania were inspired to create an English-language theatre troupe in Prague that focuses on producing both contemporary plays and classics with a diverse ensemble of actors, directors, and teachers from all around the world. “We perform in English as an international language, but we also have our scripts translated into Czech for subtitles for every performance.” said Adamson. “We want to educate people through the use of theatre, give them some food for thought, and to engage the Czech population as we are living here in this country as mostly expats.” “We have a really diverse cast of nationalities in...
