The pedestrian zone near the Anděl metro station is one of the busiest areas in the city, further worsened by the ongoing closure of the Na Knížecí train stop. Today, the majority of cities and countries are concerned with the percentage of people who have been vaccinated. As such, many administrations and governments have launched campaigns and initiatives to encourage citizens to take the COVID-19 vaccine and help prevent the spread of the virus. Although many have taken such actions, few have paid attention to the homeless people who do not have access to healthcare services. On 13 July, Prague City launched a project to help this vulnerable group of individuals and provide them with the medical care they need and deserve. More specifically, the City of Prague has collaborated with the Salvation Army and other organisations to vaccinate those who sleep outdoors and do not use the social services provided by the capital. Councillor for Social Policy and Healthcare Milena Johnová commented on this, noting: “In cooperation with field services, we cater to these people and mobile vaccination teams can start actively offering vaccinations right where these people are staying. I am glad that the Ministry of Health has finally agreed that vaccinating homeless people will help protect their fragile health and at the same time contribute to the overall higher vaccination coverage of the population of Prague.”...
Summer in Prague is the season of tramspotting, as tram tracks are repaired and routes thrown into disarray. A series of repairs in the center of Prague has significantly changed tram traffic in the metropolis since Thursday. Half of the lines do not run on their usual routes and only some sections are served by alternative bus transport. Some other routes are completely canceled. Lines 2 and 5 do not currently run, lines 4, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 24, and 42 run partially on other routes. On the contrary, tram lines 30, 32, and 33 were introduced. The tram traffic in the Lazarská – Újezd section is suspended until 20 August due to the repair of the bridge in Divadelní Street. Trams do not actually run on Národní třída. Moreover, Prague Public Transport interrupted the traffic between I. P. Pavlova – Muzeum – Flora – Olšanské hřbitovy. The Estonian startup Bolt, which is known mainly for operating an alternative taxi service, will launch a new service in the Czech Republic. Prague saw one of the warmest June since records began back in 1775, the Czech Hydro-Meteorological Institute reported on its website on Wednesday. The oldest Czech meteorological station at Prague’s Klementinum recorded an average temperature of 22.4 degrees Celsius. In the last 247 years, it was warmer only in 1811. Meteorologists measured the same monthly average as this year in June 2003. This year’s June in Prague was 3.6 degrees warmer than the average, based on data from 1981 to 2010. It means it places this month between the 3rd and 4th spot in a total of 247 measurements. The warmest day was Sunday, June 20, with an average daily temperature of 29.3 degrees Celsius. A week earlier, the daily average reached only 15.6 degrees. The warmest June since 1775 was recorded in 2019, when the monthly average reached 24.5 degrees Celsius. It was two degrees lower in 1811 and even 0.1 degrees colder was the same in 2003 and this year. This June was the third warmest in the Czech Republic since the start of monitoring in 1961.
