The renowned Belgian video-artist (born 1969) uses 3-D rendering technologies to explore the withering effects of time on man’s creations, and so his 2016 video projection Olympia is a real-time model of the Berlin Olympic Stadium built under Adolf Hitler for the Olympic Games in 1936. While the venue has seen numerous renovations throughout the century, the exhibition delves into the conceptual ideas of decay over an extended timeframe. The videos, therefore, project models of the Olympic stadium devoid of human interaction. After long discussions with all stakeholders and taking into consideration the Government regulations, organizers have been forced to announce the postponement of the Volkswagen Prague Marathon 2020 (scheduled for Sunday, 3 May). “We are already looking for an alternative date and once it will be agreed with all responsible authorities we will communicate it on our official channels. All the participants will receive by email all details and additional information,” as stated on their website. The accompanying events like dm family run, Walk with dogs and Marathon Expo will be also moved. The Prague Half Marathon 2020 is now scheduled to take place on Sunday morning, 6 September 2020. The time and place of the start will be confirmed. The Golden Spike Ostrava has been postponed, as well. No substitute date for the marathon has been announced yet. The Prague Marathon was launched in 1995 under the patronage of legendary Olympic champion Emil Zátopek. The marathon course is flat and fast attracting the runners from all over the world.

One of Prague’s oldest squares has been waiting for a complete renovation for years. The main part of the work on Malostranské Square has not yet begun, as the city faced several problems, but last December, the building permit was published by the building authority of Prague 1. Now Prague city councillors have approved a CZK 74 million public works project to make the square more pedestrian-friendly. According to their plans, it will be a comprehensive public space suitable for organizing markets or social events. There will also a new fountain, benches, streetlamps, and widening pavements leading uphill to Prague Castle. Cultural events began to take place in the square in the latter part of 2016, and in the summer of 2017, a temporary cafe built inside a year-old 300- trunk of a tree was there. Students threw a dorm party at the Větrník dormitory on the night of Monday to Tuesday, which was attended by about 30 to 40 students despite a ban on gathering due to the spread of coronavirus. Despite the Czech government’s request to limit social gatherings of over 10 people, not all young people have taken advice about “social distancing” seriously. The students are mainly foreigners attending the Erasmus program. Similar events were also held at the dormitories of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (CULS). Because of the party, the virus appeared to be spreading among the residents. “Unfortunately, there was a big Erasmus party at Block III at Na Větrníku dormitory. The students did not listen to the calls of the municipal police,” said the spokesman of Charles University Vaclav Hajek.
