Prague Castle was the most visited tourist destination in the Czech Republic last year, attracting 2.19 million tourists, a 54% increase from the previous year. The Petřín cable car came in second with 1.9 million visitors, followed by Prague Zoo with 1.36 million visitors. These three destinations also topped the list in 2022. The Aquapalace in Čestlice, Central Bohemia, also surpassed one million visitors last year, according to data published by the state agency CzechTourism. Other top ten destinations included the Dolní Vítkovice complex in Ostrava, Aqualand Moravia in Pasohlávky, the Zlín Zoo, Safari Park Dvůr Králové, the Petřín Lookout Tower, and the Ostrava Zoo. The rankings remained mostly unchanged year-on-year, with Špilberk Castle in Brno making the top ten last year, while the Petřín Lookout Tower was not listed. CzechTourism reported that 2023 was a successful year for domestic tourism, with visitor numbers significantly increasing nationwide. The current figures indicate that tourism is nearing pre-recession levels. In Central Bohemia and South Moravia, aquaparks were the top attractions, while the Pilsner brewery led in the Pilsen region. Zoos were the most visited in South Bohemia, Ústí nad Labem, Hradec Králové, Olomouc, and Zlín regions, as well as in Vysočina. In...
After a four-year hiatus due to the global pandemic, Prague has restored its direct air link with Beijing. This route will now operate three times a week, all year round, as announced by Prague Airport spokeswoman Klára Divíšková. In 2019, over 1.7 million tourists from Asia visited the Czech Republic, but that number dropped to 776,000 last year. “I firmly believe that the renewed direct route to Beijing will stimulate inbound tourism from China. The connection to Beijing offers a great opportunity for Czech tourists to explore not only the Chinese capital but also the rest of China and Asia, thanks to connecting flights,” said Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Prague Airport. Hainan Airlines will operate flights to Beijing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays using Airbus A330 aircraft. Tourists from distant destinations, including China, often travel around Europe. From the Czech Republic, they visit Austria, Germany, France, and Italy. “It’s logical; if they are already taking a long flight, they want to experience more destinations. This direct connection will ultimately benefit European tourism as a whole,” added the Director of the Czech Tourism Centre – CzechTourism. Hainan Airlines, established in January 1993 in Hainan Province, China’s largest special...
Would you like to have unforgettable memories of the holiday in the Czech mountains? Let’s try to sleep in a tiny house made of hay. Moreover, right from your bed, you have a view of the sky with stars through the transparent rooftop. You might have romantic ideas about sleeping on hay in plain nature. In this upgraded version, you have a whole tiny house with a bed for two people. However, the most romantic aspect is the transparent rooftop under your bed, where you can watch the sky with stars. If you are not allergic to the grass, you should definitely try it! In fact, this little house is made of straw rather than hay. Straw can keep the warm better, and it is almost waterproof. It makes the little house comfortable as much as possible. However, this kind of experience is a seasonal service from May to September, since the nights in the mountains are cold during the rest of the year. Your experience is coming with a tasty breakfast made of local ingredients. You can have it served right into your bed, enjoy it as a picnic in the meadow, or have it right in the cottage...

Prague Airport is to offer regular direct flights to Ulaanbaatar for the first time in its history. The Eznis Airways carrier plans to operate flights to the capital of Mongolia two times a week, on Wednesday and Saturday, effective 10 July 2024, using a wide-body Airbus A330 with a capacity for 256 passengers. This third direct European connection to Mongolia, which is to complement the only two other direct routes available, will also offer interesting options for connecting flights, for example, to Vietnam. “We are very happy that the Eznis Airways carrier is launching a direct route from Prague to Ulaanbaatar. Approximately 12,000 Mongolians live in the Czech Republic, which is one of their largest communities in the European Union. In addition, Mongolia is a traditional trade partner of the Czech Republic. We believe, Czech tourists who will now be able to explore unknown Mongolia currently without the need for visas, will also be satisfied,” Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, said. Mongolia no longer means just traditional yurts. Only 3.27 million people live in a country occupying an area of more than 1,500,000 square kilometres. Mongolia is twenty times the size of the Czech Republic,...

Good news for budget travelers! Ryanair is adding a new direct route from Prague to Venice’s Marco Polo Airport, starting in October. This marks a welcome return for the airline, which previously served the route but had a hiatus in recent years. The new route offers a convenient alternative to Ryanair’s existing service to Treviso Airport, which is located further away from Venice itself. While Wizz Air currently offers flights to Marco Polo from Prague, they’re reducing their frequency. Ryanair will operate five flights per week, from Thursday to Monday. Most departures are scheduled for the morning, similar to Wizz Air. However, a Sunday evening flight from Venice provides additional flexibility for travelers. While initial fares may not be the cheapest, with return tickets starting at around 2,600 CZK, Ryanair is known for offering competitive prices, especially as the launch date approaches. Reaching Venice from Marco Polo Airport is a breeze. Several convenient options are available: City Bus Line 15: This budget-friendly option takes you to Mestre, on the mainland, in about 25 minutes for just €10 per ticket. ATVO Buses: These buses also cost €10 and offer direct connections to Venice Island. Water Buses: For a more scenic journey,...

During the period of running its operations in Prague, the American carrier already serviced 5,900 flights and transported 1,119,000 passengers. The United States is a very important market for us, which generated for us over half a million handled passengers last year, including connecting flights,” said Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors. “In the first quarter of this year, we also recorded a growth of 17 percent in this segment, so we...

The Czech Republic is setting ambitious goals for Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. Their pavilion, a striking wooden structure on prime waterfront real estate, promises to be a technological marvel and a launchpad for Czech businesses in Asia. Building on Success Decades after a well-received Czech pavilion at a previous Expo, the Czechs are raising the bar. Their new pavilion boasts a unique design by Apropos Architects, constructed from wood and glass. This wooden marvel stands out in Japan, where earthquake regulations typically limit such structures. The Czechs, however, have addressed these concerns, proving the building’s resilience to Japan’s authorities. Innovation Takes Center Stage The pavilion isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s a platform for Czech innovation. Visitors will be greeted by displays showcasing Czech achievements in engineering, finance, agriculture, and artificial intelligence. A central auditorium serves as a venue for business meetings, conferences, and workshops, fostering partnerships between Czech and Asian companies. A Taste of Czechia Cultural immersion goes beyond exhibits. A rooftop restaurant offers stunning ocean views and a delectable taste of Czech cuisine, adapted for Japanese palates. Beer will flow freely from over 100 taps, with a focus on efficiency – the Czechs have even timed how long...
