Admission fees have increased at about half of the outdoor pools and swimming pools in the Czech Republic, rising by 10 to 25 percent compared to last year. While higher energy prices drove previous increases, this year’s rise is mainly due to changes in labor agreements. The rate of increase in entrance fees depends on the size of the pool. Larger pools will see a more noticeable hike, while smaller pools, especially in villages, will maintain last year’s prices. Due to the administrative burdens associated with work agreements, some temporary workers are shifting to full-time employment. This year’s weather fluctuations have delayed the start of the summer season. Typically, pools open in late May and early June, but this year, the forecast suggests visitors will start swimming in mid-June. However, some pools in the Pilsen, Ústí nad Labem, and South Moravia regions have already begun their season. Compared to 2019, interest in domestic vacations is up by 161 percent, and summer holiday bookings have increased by 19 percent compared to last year. There is also a growing demand for unique accommodations such as glamping, tree houses, and teepees. “For stays in the Czech Republic, our customers typically book for two...
The Festival of Microbreweries at Prague Castle is an annually event taking place in the beautiful premises of the Royal Garden of Prague Castle, on Střelecka cesta below the Royal Summer Palace. Microbreweries are the waters of life and a modern phenomenon of brewing skills. Twenty-five years ago there only existed one microbrewery in the Czech Republic, the brewery U Fleků; today there are approximately 170. The organizer is the Czech-Moravian Association of Microbreweries, which aims to present to the public the production of microbreweries from all over the Czech Republic. The participation of 51 Czech and Moravian breweries has already been confirmed, as well as the participation of guests, which this year are breweries from Hungary. The festival is unique in that it is a tasting event, where the aim is not to sell and drink as much as possible, but to taste and get to know the Czech beer culture. Brewers and owners of individual breweries will be at the taps to present their beers and breweries. Participating breweries include favorites like Clock, Purkmistr, U Medvídků, Hoppy Dog, Joe’s Garage, Faltus, Permon, Kocour, and countless others. The number of visitors is limited due to the location and security of Prague Castle, so 1200 tickets are available each festival...

Prague City has announced a significant budget of CZK 137 million for this year to promote sustainable transportation solutions. Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Hřib and Josef Richter, Deputy Director of the Technical Communications Administration (TSK), unveiled ambitious plans to expand and improve the city’s cycling network. The focus will be on key routes designated A1 through A9, which are vital for connecting different areas of Prague. Major Upgrades on Key Routes One of the main projects includes the expansion of the A1 cycle path in Radotín. To accommodate the growing number of cyclists, the path will be widened, ensuring a safer and more comfortable ride. A new 1,700-meter section will be constructed between the Vyšehrad railway bridge and the new Dvorecký bridge, transforming previously unusable pavement into a cyclist-friendly route. The A2 right-bank cycle route will also see an 800-meter upgrade near Podolský nábřeží. Cyclists can finally rejoice as the long-awaited A7 route will see the addition of a long-awaited 900-meter section linking the Kačerov metro station to the U Labutě cycling hub in Krč, after over 15 years of planning. Local Initiatives Complement City-Wide Plans Complementing these major projects are local district initiatives. Prague 19 is set to refurbish two...
