Prague’s Municipal Court has ruled that the government’s restrictions limiting movement and shutting down retail businesses are illegal. Thursday’s verdict is final. The court ruled after a complaint by medical expert Ondrej Dostal, who questioned the legality of those measures. The restrictions were imposed by the Health Ministry. The court said the government should have approved the restrictions as part of its crisis measures under the state of emergency rules. It said a single ministry cannot have such right. Health Minister Adam Vojtěch said the government will try to comply with the ruling while maintaining restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the new coronavirus. The government has until Monday to adopt the measures again and in line with law.
