According to the information on the website, Ryanair will operate 2 new routes from Palma de Mallorca. Operation will start between Budapest or Prague and Palma de Mallorca on June 2019. A section of the line C of the Prague underground shall be covered by LTE until the end of the year, reports mobilenet.cz. Completion of the coverage of the whole Prague underground is planned by 2022, although the original deadline was 2019. The slow progress in the coverage is due to administrative hurdles in obtaining construction permit. The Director of the Prague City Transport, Petr Witowski, said that he would like to speed up the whole process and preferentially cover the platforms. The deal between the city and the mobile operators should be in place for 20 years, with the companies set to pay the transit authority CZK 120 million for the first half of that period. The mobile signal coverage in the Prague metro is currently poor, at the 2G standard and only in the majority of metro stations. Construction works and cable installation will be performed in phases and during night hours when the metro is closed to the public (1:00 to 3:00 a.m.). The greenery in Prague – forests and parks – will be increased through planting, and replacing old and diseased trees, which will be recycled into benches or wood for fireplaces and boilers. One of the most popular and largest green areas of the capital, Stromovka, will get 142 new trees in the spring. The planting will be held in two stages. “We finished the first part in the autumn of last year, during which 105 new trees went to the largest park in Prague. Another 37 trees will be added during the spring months this year,” said Petra Fišerová from the company Lesy of the City of Prague (LHMP), which takes care of greenery in the city. Although the Prague City Council approved the reconstruction of the dilapidated and preserved monument of the Old Town Market in the historical centre of Prague in the middle of 2016, work has not yet started. Around 200 Ryanair passengers are said to have been left stranded on their plane during a snowstorm, with no food, water or information for over six hours. Flight FR2767 to Madrid was grounded at around 9 a.m. on February 3 with 189 passengers on board. Reports said that the snowstorm continually worsened, and there was no food or water available to offer passengers. Reports said that the passengers were eventually allowed off the plane after six hours, and they ventured out into the snow and howling winds. The first part of the renovations at Náplavka, including the rebuilding of the cell areas in the embankment wall, should be completed this April or May. As the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland continues, Apple CEO Tim Cook today met with Czech Republic Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. Amidst discussion of progress in the Czech economy and advancements in artificial intelligence, the Prime Minister suggested Apple establish an official retail location in the country’s capital of Prague. Apple doesn’t currently operate first-party retail stores in the Czech Republic. While Apple expanded its online store to the country back in 2011, locals must still rely on a network of Apple Premium Resellers for brick and mortar sales and service. Babiš noted that Cook was “absolutely enthusiastic” that the country has more than 500 scientists working on artificial intelligence before stating that he offered Apple to build a store in Prague. “How would they like it if Czech tourists could not look inside monuments abroad?.” In this spirit, the reactions of a number of Prague citizens on social networks have been taking place in recent days. Prague City Hall plans to make the city’s public transport and bike share system free on the smoggiest days in a bid to drive down pollution levels and meet EU air quality regulations. The idea is to encourage more people to use public transport. Formally, the decision has not yet been made.
