Czech police detained 16 suspects after a group of black-clad Fiorentina fans attacked West Ham supporters in a bar in central Prague on Wednesday before the Europa Conference League final, injuring three patrons, authorities said. Video on Twitter showed fans setting off flares and throwing tables at the bar located off Prague’s Old Town Square. A police officer was also attacked. Police said it was an isolated incident and the fans had minor injuries of cuts on their hands. “Italy fans attacked West Ham fans in a bar on Rytirska street, injuring three,” Czech police said on Twitter. “A police officer was also attacked. In a groundbreaking move, the Prague Transport Company will conduct its first-ever trial of automatic safety platform doors in the city’s metro system. The doors will be installed at Zličín station this summer, as Zdopravy.cz reports. The average monthly wage in Czechia in the first quarter of 2023 rose by 8.6 percent year-on-year to CZK 41,256, the Czech Statistics Office reported on Monday. In real terms, taking into account inflation, earnings fell by 6.7 percent. However two-thirds of employees earn less than the average wage. Prague City Council has agreed on investments in crisis warning systems and modernization of the existing equipment of volunteer firefighters. Around CZK 21 million will go towards the construction of municipal information systems, the purchase of radio equipment and cars for volunteer fire brigade units, and an operational management system for floods, among other things. Flavours in heated tobacco products will be banned throughout the EU. President Petr Pavel signed an amendment to the law on public health protection on Monday. The amendment, which implements a mandatory European Union directive, will take effect on 23 October this year. There will be no grace period during which retailers can restock their inventories. The sales of heated tobacco products have exceeded the established limit in the European Union, leading the European Commission to adopt the amendment to the tobacco directive. The directive, which was adopted last June, introduces a ban on the marketing of tobacco products with distinctive flavors or containing flavorings in any of their components, including filters, papers, packaging, capsules, or any technical elements that alter the smell or taste of the tobacco products or the intensity of the smoke. The State Agriculture and Food Inspectorate stated in March that the ban, which already applies to cigarettes and hand-rolling tobacco, will now also extend to heated tobacco products, and the directive must be approved by July this year.
